Good morning, children! Sit down!

Are you ready for the lesson? Let’s see: show me your textbooks, pens, diaries (учащиеся показывают готовность к уроку, взяв в руки указанный предмет).

OK.I see you are ready. Now I want to know:

• Who is on duty today? – дежурный поднимает руку и отвечает – I am on duty today.
• Who is absent today? – дежурный отвечает.
• What day of the week is it today? – ответ любого из учащихся – Today is…Monday.
• What date is it today? – ответ любого из учащихся – Today is the 1^st of December.

Pupils, let’s listen to the tongue-twister (учитель включает запись скороговорки на интерактивной доске + каждому ученику выдается карточка с напечатанной скороговоркой:

“Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers,
A peck of pickled pepper Peter Piper picked
If Peter Piper picked a peck of pickled peppers
Where’s the peck of pickled peppers Peter Piper picked ”
First of all, let’s pronounce the sounds [p], [i], [ai].

Now let’s say the tongue-twister together with me. Then – say it individually.

3. Children, you see, the topic of today’s lesson is “London”.So let’s check up your homework – revise words that are connected with this subject.

Translate the words (приложение 1):

-нация – a nation,

-страна – a country,

– континент – a continent,

– Земля – the Earth,

– площадь – a square,

– Трафальгарская площадь – Trafalgar Square,

– музей – a museum,

– Британский музей – the British Museum,

– собор – a cathedral,

– собор Св.Павла – St.Paul’s Cathedral.

Now I’d like you to use these lexical units in speech. Please, translate my sentences from Russian into English (приложение 2):

– Планета, на которой мы живем, называется Земля. – The planet we live on is called the Earth.

IV.As I’ve already told you, the topic of today’s lesson is “London”. Let’s discuss some interesting facts concerning this city. Look at the pictures I’ve prepared and try to say several sentences about the culture and the mentioned places of interest:

Now pupils let’s generalize knowledge about the famous city of Great Britain, London.

6. You had a rest and now we continue to work under the topic “London”.

I’d like you to listen to the tape about one of the most interesting sights of London – the British Museum, and then to do some tasks after listening.

• Tape “The British Museum”(учащиеся слушают пленку, а затем отвечают на вопросы на основе прослушанной информации (см.аудио 1))

OK, now as a control task for checking up your knowledge according to the tape I suggest you a small test. You are to choose TRUE and FALSE statements (учащемся раздаются тесты; ребята должны выбрать верные и ложные утверждения) (см.приложение 4).После выполнения работы листы с тестами собираются учителем.

As a final task, you are to do one more exercise called “Welcome to London”. Sit down by the computers and do it. Put the numbers of the slides into your cards in accordance with their going (приложение 5).
