Цели:

• Расширить кругозор и углубить знания, обогатить лексический запас учащихся через ознакомление с культурой народов разных стран.
• Классифицировать и развивать знания о достижениях человечества.
• Создать дополнительный материал по теме «Удивительный мир. Древние чудеса света».

Задачи:

Образовательная: Знакомство с памятниками архитектуры и искусства, использование возможности Интернета.

Развивающая:

• развивать умение обобщать и синтезировать знания;
• развивать компенсаторные компетенции и языковую догадку;
• развивать логическое мышление;
• развивать навыки аудирования и монологической речи

Воспитательная: Воспитание бережного отношения к памятникам архитектуры и искусства.

Технические средства: компьютер, медиапроектор, раздаточный материал (тексты для чтения, таблица для заполнения фактов, оценочные листы)

Ход урока

Hello, children! Glad to see you. Sit down.

We've got a lot of things to show and discuss. The topic of the lesson is connected with history.

I. Look at the pictures and say if you know these places. Match the pictures and the names of the places. (слайд 2, презентация). What do you think they have in common? (possible answers: They were built for definite purposes. The constructions were complicated and it was difficult to erect them without special techniques and machines. They all were concentrated around a well-known particular area of that age. We call them 7 wonders of the ancient world as they were beautiful, gorgeous and terrific.)

Try to recollect where they used to be situated. (Students’ ideas)

So, what are we going to talk about today? (The aim of the lesson is being agreed on)

II. Fist of all read some difficult words (слайд 3, презентация)

III. You’ll be given seven texts with the information about the wonders we’ve just mentioned. Your task is to find out the main facts about them. First, you work independently then join the partner with the same text and fill in the chart. You’ll get it later.

IV. It’s the time to sum up the material about 7 wonders of the ancient world. You are going to describe buildings and statues, discoveries and achievements of mankind in ancient times, their characteristics and story, legends and personalities connected with them using the fulfilled chart.

Do research on the Internet about new seven wonders of the world and describe them. See ”Tips for doing internet research” in “Learning strategies” (Enjoy English-10, M.Z. Biboletova).

(В качестве домашнего задания учащимся предлагается подготовить презентации о новых чудесах света с соответствующим комментарием на английском языке).

Отметки: Учащиеся получают оценочные карточки, с помощью которых они могут самостоятельно оценить качество ответов учащихся, сдают их учителю. Кроме того, ученикам предлагается ответить на вопрос о том, понравился ли им урок.
