Учитель: Dear guests, we are glad to see you at our English lesson. The group of the 5th form is going to participate in the project “Nature protection”. We hope you’ll get an unforgettable impression of this performance as the kids have prepared everything all by themselves. And of course, they are looking forward to your appreciation and approval. Well, we begin…

P. 1: Everyone knows wild life is in great danger nowadays. During the centuries people killed wild animals for different reasons: for their wonderful skin, for food, for fun so these days we hardly see some species of them in wild nature.

P. 2: The majority of seldom met animals we can see only in Safari parks and in the Zoo. Many of them are in the Red book. Now we are going to visit one of the pleasant places to watch beautiful birds and animals. На экране появляется заставка The Kids ABC's At the Zoo http://www.youtube.com/

T.: Well, OK. And now answer my helpers’ questions, please.

P. 1: You’ve watched a lot of unusual and bright birds and large and strong animals. Do they feel comfortable in the Zoo?

P. 2: What animals have you seen?

P. 1: What else can you add?

P. 2: What animals are there in the Red book?

P. 1: What about other mammals?

P. 2: Why did people include many animals in the Red book?

T: And now, kids, pretend you are in the Zoo. Let’s role play the dialogues and have a talk to the animals are in danger.

Pupil 1: – Just look at that great white polar bear! Isn’t it nice? I think it looks absolutely like a big soft toy.

Pupil 2: – A toy indeed! For your information it’s one of the strongest animals in the world and very fierce.

Pupil 3: – You don’t say so. An animal with such funny button eyes and thick soft fur?

Pupil 1: – By the way, this thick fur can help the polar bear in the coldest place of the world.

Pupil 2: – I know the polar bears are in danger now. Polar bears are disappearing from the Earth.

Pupil 3: – Let’s ask this beautiful animal what happened to him.

Bear: – Dear children! I’ll tell you my story. Many years ago my mother was killed by the hunters. Big men took me here. But I like it in the Zoo. I made many friends.

Pupil 3: – Good luck to you then! Now I know people must take care of bears, they mustn’t kill them.

P. 1: And now let’s have a conversation with another representative of wild nature – an African elephant.

Pupil 1: – Let’s have a look at this wonderful animal. This is an African elephant. I know they can help people.

Pupil 2: – For your information, in the 19th century Africa was full of elephants. But these days you can see them in African parks and in the Zoo.

Pupil 3: – Poor things! These animals are in danger too. They are disappearing, because bad men used to hunt them for their tusks.

Pupil 1: – Let’s ask this wonderful animal about its life.

Elephant: – What nice children I can see! Zoo is my home now. I like it here, because kind men take care of me. They feed me too. I know many people try to protect wild animals and help nature. I ask you not to do any harm to wild nature.

Pupil 3: -We promise you to protect nature, animals and plants.

P. 2: And the last but not the least detail in our project is talking to the one of the strongest and fierce wild cat – the tiger.

Pupil 1: – Just look at this tiger. To my mind, the tiger is one of the most dangerous animals in the world.

Pupil 2: – Yes, it is. But it looks absolutely nice and lovely.

Pupil 3: – For your information, Indian and Amur tigers are in great danger. People have hunted and killed many tigers in India.

Pupil 2: – Why did they kill them?

Pupil 1: – Tigers can kill cows, sheep and other domestic animals. Sometimes they can also kill men.

Pupil 2: – Oh! So some people are afraid of tigers and kill them to save their domestic animals and their lives.

Pupil 3: – And do you know that some people have often hunted tigers for fun and for their beautiful skin? Such greedy people can sell the skin and get a lot of money.

Tiger: – Rrr… Sorry, you are talking about me, aren’t you? Then listen to my story. There are few Indian tigers left on the Earth now. Many of them are old and sick. Most tigers live in deep, dark forests, because they are afraid of people. But such forests are few.

Pupil 1: – I see. People also cut down many trees. Sometimes there is no space to live. Modern life is bad for them. We can find the names of the tiger, the elephant, the white bear and many other animals in the Red book.

Pupil 2: – I think people must save wild animals and take special care of them all. And we promise to help them too.

P. 1: Thank you, my friends. And now a musical pause.

На экране слад-шоу животных, занесенных в Красную книгу. В это время на сцену выходят 6 учащихся. Они исполняют танец под музыку группы Biscuit “Zoo Zoo” .

T. : Well done, kids. You are very good at dancing. I think everyone liked it very much. Take you seats. Let’s go on our work and have practice in reading. Read the name of the text. (Reader 5 “The day I came face to face with a tiger”). Before we start reading, look at the board to learn how to pronounce some unknown words from the text. Well, who wants to begin? (After reading) Well, you know the main idea of this story. Now I allow you some minutes to think of your own end of the story and tell it to your classmates.

P. 1: Well, share your opinions, please.

P. 2: I think the tiger was afraid of the men and ran away.

P. 1: It’s a successful end. Thank you.

P. 3: I think the tiger was so hungry that it didn’t pay attention to the men and had lunch.

P. 1: A nice version. Thanks.

P. 4: May be the tiger came up to the dead sheep and ran away.

P. 1: Perhaps.

T. : I think every version has its peculiarity. You’ve used your imagination in a proper way so I could agree with all of you. But don’t forget the tiger and other wild cats are predators. A hungry animal usually attacks its victim. So in this case the travelers were in great danger. Perhaps the tiger attacked the men because they came in its space.

P. 1: In conclusion of our lesson we’ll sing the song about the Earth protection.

Don’t kill the world!
Don’t let the Earth down! 2 times
Don’t kill the world and the Earth!

Do not destroy the ground!
Don’t kill the world and the Earth!
Don’t kill the world! 2 times
Don’t let the Earth die!
Don’t kill the world and the Earth!

Don’t kill the world!
Don’t let the Earth die! 2 times
Don’t kill the world and the Earth!

T. : Our lesson is over. Let’s say “thank you” to all our guests for their coming here. Pleasure was all ours. We’ll be glad to see you any time.
