I. Орг. момент
– Good morning. I’m glad to see you. You can take your seats.
– Look at the quote on the board. “One thousand Americans stop smoking every day – by dying. ”
What do you think we are going to speak about today?
(About harm that smoking does)
Речевая зарядка.
Smoking isn’t a healthy habit. And I hope all of you are healthy. But what makes us healthy?
Look at the list of ideas and say what is useful or harmful for your health.
- eating fruit and vegetables;
- sunbathing;
- smoking cigarettes;
- going to the gym;
- laughing a lot;
- running every day;
- not having breakfast;
- watching television;
- learning new things;
eg: Smoking cigarettes is harmful for my health.

1) Pre-listening task.
– Do you know that every year about 390,000 people lose their lives because of smoking?
And smoking is a problem for the whole world.
In pairs read the factfile about smoking in the UK and discuss if the statements are true or false. Then tell the other students.

- The 20-24 age group smokes more than any other.
- A quarter of Britain’s 15-year-olds are regular smokers.
- In 1994, children between the ages of 11 and 15 smoked over a billion cigarettes.
- Every year 120,000 smokers in the UK die from their habit – about 330 people every day.
- More people in Britain die from smoking than from road accidents, murder and AIDS.
In fact, all the statements are true.
2) while-listening tasks.

- – You are going to listen to a report. While listening match the headings with the parts of the text.

- Do you need such lunchtime lessons?
- Why do people start smoking? Add your ideas.
Watching the anti-smoking film.
– Now please watch a short video about smoking.
– You know that smoking damages different parts of our bodies. Take your paper people. While watching cross those body parts that are mentioned in the film.
– Now say: “Every cigarette damages…”
– Use: brain, lungs, blood, liver, kidneys, heart, stomach, colon.
3) Post-listening and watching task.
– Imagine that you are taking part in an anti-smoking campaign.
– Complete the slogans for the campaign using the words:
Bad, clever, cool, glamorous, good, optimistic, nasty, nice, right, stupid, useful, dangerous.
