2. Warm up: What is the topic of our discussion? (Answer: Hobbies)
What hobbies do you know? (Collecting stamps, reading, gardening, watching cartoons and others)
Why do you think children and their parents are fond of watching cartoons?
3. The aims of the lesson: Slide 1
To revise the vocabulary of hobbies.
To practise giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing.
To talk about W .Disney, a creator of wonderful characters.
To practise answering questions and making up dialogues.
4. Discussion of the text (W. Disney's world, Ex. 16. p. 78). Slide 2
What is the title of the text? What is this text about? )
5. True or false statements. Slide 3
6. Answering the questions on the text. Slide 4
7. Now let's divide the text into parts and name them. Slide 5
(The expected answer: We can divide the text into 3 parts:
W. Disney, Disney's main characters, Disneyland).
8. Now you are going to work in groups of four and do three tasks on the main parts of the text.
- Walt Disney - Put the words back into the correct order to make up the sentences. (Handout: cards with the words in the incorrect order).
- Disney's main characters - There are three pictures of different characters on the board. Each group will read the description of one character and try to guess it. Then one student from each group will go to the board and place the description under the picture. (Handout: Three cards with the descriptions of characters: Donald Duck, Pluto and Winnie-the-Pooh). - Mickey Mouse is entering the classroom and he is doing some exercises with the students. Slide 7
- Disneyland - There is one question for you to answer: Why do you like to go to Disneyland? Slide 8
