Цель урока: систематизировать знания учащихся по теме: “ Защита окружающей среды” и совершенствование навыков в говорении, чтении и аудировании по данной теме.

Задачи урока:

  • Образовательные: развитие лексико-грамматических навыков в говорении, совершенствование навыков чтения и аудирования, активизация лексических единиц в речевой деятельности.
  • Развивающие: развитие внимания, памяти, воображения; развитие логики, коммуникабельности; расширение кругозора.
  • Воспитательные: воспитывать любовь и уважение к природе; воспитывать чувство ответственности и взаимопомощи.

Оснащение урока: учебник “English VI “ O.V. Afanasyeva, I.V. Mikheeva, “Enterprise” Virginia Evans, Jenny Dooley; магнитофон, кассета, компьютер, экран, раздаточный материал, творческие работы учащихся.

Ход урока

Организационный момент:

Teacher: Good morning! Sit down, please. I’m very glad to see you, hope you are ready for the lesson and you are in a good mood.

Teacher: /introduction of the lesson/ Today we are going to talk about environmental problems and what our steps can be made to turn our planet or only the place where we live into a blossoming garden.

Warm-up activities:

Teacher: Let’s do phonetic drills first. Look at the blackboard and read the following combinations of words:

To forecast weather; climatic changes; to solve a problem; a shortage of drinking water; nuclear power; to cause destruction; air pollution; to survive; a habitat; below zero; the greenhouse affect; ozone holes; to influence the environment; extinct species of animals; to cure illnesses; to destroy forests; to dump waste in rivers.

Teacher: Listen to the tape and read the poem. Ex. 19 p.75 “I go forth to move about the Earth” Students read it individually and together.

Follow-up activities:

Activity 1. Listening. Teacher: You’ll listen to the text “ Why don’t we stop him ?” and say why the young member of the Women’s club wanted to stop the car producer. Additional questions: what are positive aspects of cars? What are negative aspects of cars?

Activity 2. Some of you are the members of our school club “Planet Protectors”. You discuss at your meetings how to save our fragile planet. As I know your aim is to turn our planet into a blossoming garden. I’d rather you spoke about main problems of our environment at our today’s English lesson. You have prepared some posters for our lesson. Let’s see why we say that our planet is in danger. /Student’s posters./

Teacher: What do you think of these words ? Were the Indians wiser than we are now ? Did they understand many years ago that our planet is in danger? Do you want to live in harmony with nature? Do you want to take care of birds and animals?

Teacher: Look at the blackboard and say if you agree or disagree with the next statements:

– If we are able to solve ecological problems, we will save the Earth

– People will be healthier if air pollution is stopped

– If different countries test nuclear weapons, it will cause radioactive pollution

– If factories pour waste into rivers, the water in them will be poisoned

– We will survive if we protect nature together

Activity 5. Teacher: Let’s see at your photos you have taken in our park “Kuzminki”. /На экране виды кузьминского парка, где работают дети, убирая мусор./

Water pollution is becoming quite bad. Have you ever thrown anything into the water in the park?

Burning makes air pollution worse. Have you ever burnt rubbish or autumn leaves?

Have you ever thrown food away? How much water do you waste? Have you ever thrown litter

In the park? /Ответы детей./ to be cleared away, to be picked up and put into special plastic bags, to look wonderful again clean and tidy, no rubbish under the trees and bushes, a great place to live in, a healthy habitat for animals.

Teacher: We want to save our local park whose beauties are widely known to the citizens of Moscow and live in such a beautiful place.

Activity 6. Teacher: Are you doing your bit to help the planet? Try our fun quiz and find out if you are a Super Saver or an Energy Waster. Tick any of the following statements that you agree with.

I walk or cycle or use transport whenever possible /green/.

If I remember, I turn off the TV, lights and heater when I’m not using them /yellow/.
