  • Познавательный аспект – заключительная беседа об истории возникновения Олимпийских игр, о популярных британских видах спорта и играх, о российских видах спорта и играх.
  • Воспитательный аспект – воспитание убежденности того, что следует следить за своим здоровьем, следует заниматься спортом.
  • Учебный аспект – формирование навыков говорения.

Речевой материал: athletics,cricket,club,golf,rugby,championship,climbing,horse-riding,to hold a competition,rowing.

I. Warm-up.

a. The remark`s exercise.

React to the statement with the questions.

My father is going to buy a sport club.

  • When is he going to buy this club?
  • Why is he going to buy it?
  • Has he got a lot of money?
  • With whom is he going to buy it?
  • Is he going to buy it by himself or with anybody/
  • What will be the price of this club?
  • Will the price be expensive or not?

b. The conditional conversation.

React to the saying not only with the questions, but also with the statements.

I prefer outdoor games.

  • What outdoor games do you know?
  • Why do you prefer these games?
  • I go in for football. And I like this outdoor game.
  • Can we say that football is outdoor game?
  • Are outdoor games popular in our country?
  • Outdoor games are popular in Great Britain.
  • Do you like to go to outdoor games or to indoor games?

c. If you want to keep fit what rules should you remember?

  • Get up early and go to bed early.
  • Take regular exercises.
  • Take a cool/cold shower.
  • Eat healthy food.
  • Never smoke.

III. Read the dialogue in pairs and act it out.

IV. Listen to the statements and make your comment.

  1. Every morning all the year round I do my morning exercises.
  2. Almost every day I do some training. In summer I go swimming and rowing.
  3. In winter I go to the skating-rink to skate.

  5. Of all indoor games I like chess best.
  6. I am fond of watching football matches.

V. Listen to a joke and tell it.

Jim came to the stadium very late.”What is the score?” he asked.

“Nothing to nothing,” was the answer.

“How nice!” said he. “I haven’t missed anything”.

VII. Sport in Russia.

Name the famous Russian sportsmen. (Likhovtheva, Kuznethova,Dementieva,Petrova, Bure, Mostovoy, Onopko, Popov,Navka, Drozd, Bryanov .

Explain in Russian: biathlon, surfing, freestyle skiing, bobsleigh.

VIII. Sport in Great Britain.

Explain in Russian: cricket, rugby, golf.

There are some racing competitions in England. Name some of them. (motor-car racing, dog racing, donkey racing, boat racing, horse racing- all kind of racing are popular in England.)

IX. Express your agreement or disagreement with the next statements.

  1. People practice sport for at least two reasons: first, they enjoy and, second, they feel a need to keep fit.
  2. Many professional sportsmen are now as popular and famous as the greatest Hollywood film stars.
  3. People enjoy watching international matches Events such as Olympic Games or the Football World Cup attract more and more spectators.
  4. A lot of British people like sport, especially on TV. The number of people who actively take part in sport is quite small. On the whole British people prefer to be fat rather than fit.

X. Advertisements.

For today’s lesson you have prepared 2 advertisements. The first is about sport club and the second one is about sport shop.

Imagine that you are the managers of some of the clubs. And you advertise your favourite club.
