Урок английского языка в 8-м классе "Traditions and Manners" (по учебнику В.Т. Кузовлева)

Цель: приобщение учащихся к культуре, традициям и обычаям страны изучаемого языка.

Задачи:

  • активизировать употребление лексики по теме;
  • воспитывать чувство уважения и любви друг к другу;
  • осуществить речевую деятельность с помощью различных заданий;
  • подарить друг другу весёлое, праздничное настроение.

Дидактические материалы: карточки с заданиями, слова песни «Happy New Year», кроссворд.

Средства ТСО: компьютер, экран, проектор, магнитофон.

Оборудование: рождественская символика: носок, колокольчики, открытки, свечи, ёлка, пирамида, воздушные шары; сувениры (мышки).

Программное обеспечение: презентации в Power Point, cозданные учителем, MS Word, MS Excel.

ХОД УРОКА

1. T. Good afternoon, my dear friends! I am very glad to see you. Take your seats and let`s begin our lesson. Look around the classroom, can you guess what topic it will be devoted to?
P-s. We think it will be devoted to Christmas because here are a lot of   Christmas symbols: a tree, Santa Claus, bells, a sock and others.
T. Yes, you are quite right. During our lesson we shall speak about a very famous holiday which all European people and the British of course love very much. It is Christmas.

2. T. But before speaking I`d like you to think and tell me what associations you have with this holiday. (Дети называют ассоциации, выходят и записывают их на доске)

 

– Okay, well done!
T. And now I`ll show you some slides and you`ll check if you are right or not. (Презентация 1)
T. So were your suggestions true or false?
P-s. Yes, we were right.
T. Good for you!

3. T. Do you know what other winter holiday people all over the world like?
P-s. We are sure it is New Year.
T. What part of Britain is New Year more important than Christmas?
– How is it called? When is it celebrated? What traditions is it connected with? 
– So let`s find out some additional information about this holiday with a help of the second presentation. (Презентация 2)
4. T. Now I want to offer you some tasks. Let`s work in two groups; choose the card, please.

  • Guess the crossword on Christmas (первая группа)

(Дети выполняют задания на карточках (2-3 минуты), а затем проверяют с помощью компьютера).

  • Look at the text and insert the missing words (задание даётся на слайде компьютера).

Christmas is celebrated on the ..., New Year is on the ...  . On these days people usually go to the ..., sing ..., put a New Year ..., ... the house, have a holiday ...  . It consists of a ..., a ..., a ... and ...  . The most important tradition on these holidays is to give and get ...  . Children leave a long ..., at the end of their bed hoping that ... will come and bring them presents.
But in ... New Year is more important than Christmas. Its name is ...  . This day is connected with the tradition of ...  . A First Foot is a ... with ... or ... hair. He comes to the house first and bring some symbols: a ..., a ..., ... and an evergreen ...  . He brings ... to the family. Children write New Year`s ... on this day.

5. T. What about our country? Do we celebrate such holidays? What do we do on these holidays? (Монологическое высказывание по цепочке).

6. T. So I want to congratulate you on Christmas and New Year, I wish you good luck, happiness, health. Pupils also congratulate each other and give small gifts. (Подарки подготовлены заранее, дети вытягивали бумажки с именами кто кому дарит подарок; они подходят к человеку, желают всего наилучшего и дарят подарок)

7. T. Шn conclusion let`s sing a very beautiful song by ABBA “Happy New Year” (поём песню)
