Развивающая: развивать способность к сравнению и сопоставлению фактов.

Воспитательная: способствовать формированию интереса к системам образования в разных странах.

Учебный аспект: развитие речевых умений.

Языковой материал: К.И. Кауфман, М. Ю. Кауфман “Happy English. ru” 7 класс.

Оснащение урока: таблички со словами, символы 2 школ, тексты с диалогом.

Тип урока: урок-обобщение.

Структура урока:

1 блок: целевой - орг. момент, мотивация, постановка задачи, фон. зарядка.

2 блок: процессуальный - показ функционирования языкового материала в различных видах речевой деятельности через систему упражнений.

3 блок: аналитический - рефлексия и оценка урока.

Ход урока

I. Начало урока:

1. Организационный момент: Good morning, dear friends! Sit down please. I am glad to see you. It is time to start our lesson.

2. Целеполагание: We are going to speak about schools in England and Russia. You know that Misha Inin is in England now. He studies at St David’s School. That’s why out task is to revise and to discuss some aspects of school education in Russia and England. We’ll compare two schools: Maiskaya Secondary School and St David’s School. And at the end of the lesson you should tell me about one of them. I would like you to work hard.
And now I want to divide you into two groups. The pupils of the first variant will be the pupils of St David’s School, and the pupils of the second variant will be the pupils of Maiskaya Secondary School. Take your badges.

So dear friends as usual at first we’ll repeat some words and expressions. Look at the blackboard. Let’s read all together and you’ll translate one by one.

II. Основная часть урока.

1) Повторение значения слов.

And now we are going to play “Crosses and Zeros”. I believe the rules are known for you. Choose the square and try to explain the meaning of the words in English. You, the pupils of Maiskaya Secondary school, are the team of “Crosses” and you, the pupils of St David’s school, are the team of “Zeros”. Let’s begin.

Words:

  1. boarding school (It is a school where children study and live.)
  2. state school (It is a school for everybody. Boys and girls go to school together. They don’t pay money for studying.)
  3. scholarship (It is money. Pupils get it in a public school when their results are good. Then they don’t pay for their studying.)
  4. school uniform (It is clothes which pupils have to wear in school.)
  5. public school (It is a school not for everybody but for the rich. It is often a boarding school. Parents have to pay money because the studying is expensive. Pupils can get a scholarship when their results are good.)
  6. Science subjects (Science subjects are Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Geography.)
  7. Arts subjects (Arts subjects are Literature, History, Music, Art, languages.)
  8. All-boys school/ all-girls school (All-boys school is a school when only boys study. All-girls school is a school when only girls study.)
  9. Compulsory/ optional subjects (Optional subjects are subjects we can choose. We cannot choose compulsory subjects.)

I see you can tell about your school. And can you ask questions about schools? As an example let’s read the dialogue. Take our sheets of paper.

Dialogue.

Pupil of St David’s school - 1 .

Pupil of Maiskaya Secondary School - 2.

1- Hello!

2- Hello! Can I ask you about your school?

1- Yes, of course.

2- Is your school a state school or a public school?

1- My school is a public school. It is a boarding and an all-boys school too.

2- What does boarding and all-boys school mean?

1- It means that only boys study and live there. And what about your school?

2- My school is a state school. Boys and girls go to school together. It is a school for everybody. We don’t pay for studying. And you?

1- My school is not for everybody. It is for the rich because we have to pay money. Our school is expensive. But when our results are very good we get a scholarship and don’t pay for studying.

2- Do you wear a school uniform?

1- Yes, we do. We have to wear trousers, a shirt, a blazer, a pullover, a hat and a tie. And you?

2- In general we don’t wear a school uniform but some classes wear their own uniform. And what about your teachers? Are your teachers kind or strict?

1- They are very strict. We can only speak to them if they speak to us. We must call them Sir or Mrs. And your teachers?

2- Our teachers are kind but sometimes they are strict too. They try to do their best to help us. And your classmates? Are they friendly and polite?

1- Yes, they are, when the teacher is there, but when the teacher isn’t there, they are really cheeky and bully each other.

2- Do you have any punishments?

1- Yes, we do, and very often. We get detentions and do lines. Do you get detentions too?

2- No, we don’t but our teachers scold us for bad behaviour.

1- Tell me please how many lessons do you have a day?

2- 6 or 7. And what about you?

1- We have 9 lessons a day. We have compulsory and optional subjects. Do you have optional subjects?

2- No, we don’t. All subjects are compulsory. And what subjects do you learn?

1- Science and Arts subjects.

2- What are Science and Arts subjects?

1- Science subjects are Mathematics, Chemistry, Physics, Biology, Geography. Arts subjects are languages, for example, English, French, German, Literature, History, Music, Art. We learn Religious Education too. And you?

2- No, we don’t, but we learn Security and Public Science.

1- Thank you for interesting answers.

2- I thank you too.

4) Составление собственных диалогов.

We are working in pairs now. Ask and answer questions about your schools. You should get information about the opposite school. Try to make up your own dialogues but be brief. You have 5 minutes.
Let’s listen to some dialogues. Who is ready to represent your dialogue. (2 диалога)

5) Монологическое высказывание.

Using the information you have learnt to tell us about the opposite school. Use the plan. (2 ученика) (Look at the table an the board.)

III. Завершение урока.

So dear friends, your home task for the next lesson is to make up the text about school. Use the plan. (Выдать план.)
