- Развитие умения понимать основную идею текста.
- Воспитание у учащихся гражданской ответственности за свои поступки.
Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, доска, раздаточный материал, презентации учащихся.
Ход урока.
I. Good morning students! It’s nice to meet you! Sit down please! How are you today?
II.
1. I’d like to start our lesson with a psychological test to find out what sort of person you are and how you build up relationships with other people.
2. So, imagine that the Martians have landed on the Earth just in front of you. What would you do? (Start fighting? Try to make friends? Run away?)
3. Judging by the peoples‘attitude to others psychologists divide them into three main groups:
3.1. The first group includes people who make friends wherever they go. They are: sociable, sympathetic, friendly, easy-going, flexible, optimistic, active.
3.2. People from the second group are aggressive, impulsive, rude, violent, tactless.
3.3. You can characterize people from the third group as pessimistic, non-resistant, passive, they have a negative attitude to people they don’t know. They hide in their own shallow “The day has passed, nobody touched me”.
4. Which of these three groups has less problems in communicating and building up new relationships?
5. The disability to get on well with different people or to cope with difficult situations can cause numerous issues in communication with the family, friends, colleagues. It’s closely related to teenagers who have a lot of problems in their everyday life.
We can say the same about teenagers who sometimes have difficulty in coping with stressful situations.
III. Topic.
So, today we are going to speak about teenage problems, discuss different situations and try to find solutions how to solve them.
IV. To start with.
1. Now, what problems can teenagers face because of…

2. Who can help young people in difficult situations or who can they turn to if they get into trouble?
3. Do you prefer to cope with your problems yourself or to complain to somebody?
(Students discuss the questions).
V. We are going to listen to five young people complaining about their issues.
Listening:
You will hear five teenagers talking about their problems. For questions 1 – 5 choose the list A – F what each speaker says. Use the letters only once. There is one extra letter which you don’t need to use.
A. My parents don’t give me a lot of freedom.
B. I would like to spend more time with my parents.
C. My parents put a lot of pressure on me to work hard.
D. I have learned a lot from talking to my parents.
E. My parents don’t agree with my future plans.
F. My parents try to choose my friends for me.
VI. Reading.
1. Do you know that in some magazines for teenagers there is a special problem page where young people send their letters and psychologists give advice.
2. Read three letters to a problem page in a magazine for teenagers and the responses. Match each letter to one of the responses.
3. Now tell us if you agree or disagree with the advice given by the psychologist.
4. 4.1. Will you think of your own problem relating to the family, relationships, school.
4.2. Explain your problem to the class.
4.3. Select two members of the class to give some advice about the problem and then decide whose advice was better.
VII. 1. Now we are going to work in pairs (in groups of 2 or 3).
You will have different situations to talk about. Make your dialogs. You can take notes on the main ideas your group come up with. One of you is a 15-year-old teenager who is asking for advice and another is a person who is trying to help his friend. You have about two minutes to prepare a dialogue.
2. Possible situations.
a). Help! I’m going to summer camp next month and I’ll have to make new friends. The problem is I’m really shy! Are you good at making new friends? How do you do it? Have you ever been in similar situation? Any suggestion would be useful.

IX. Conclusion:
Adolescence is probably one of the best periods of life of every person. You are young, full of energy and dreams, you’re healthy and free. You want to be independent. But sometimes you face issues just because you are not experienced enough.
We do learn from our experience. And every failure make us stronger. Just don’t forget that you can turn to your parents, friends if you need help or advice.
Sometimes you can be a helping hand for your heart-broken friend.
It relates not only to your friends but also to your parents and siblings.
About three thousand years ago Confucious (an ancient Chinese thinker known for saying wise things) said: “the person who helps others – helps himself”.
X. Homework.
Give a two minute talk on the following topic: some people believe that teenagers today are generally rude, lazy and badly behaved. Other people, however, think thet teenagers have a bad reputation for no reason.
