Today at the lesson we are going to visit Great Britain (показать
Великобританию – слайд). Let's remember this country. Who can tell us
some words about Britain? Well, Alena, go to the map.
P1. Britain is a small country. The main parts of it are
Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England. English is the main language.
About 56 million people live in Britain. The climate is very mild. Every year a lot of
tourists come to Great Britain. The capital of Scotland is Edinburgh, the capital of Wales
is Cardiff, the capital of Northern Ireland is Belfast and the capital of England is
London.

Well, let's start our tour. We have some guides. They are ready to show us London.
Guide 1: Good morning, boys and girls! We welcome you to London. It is the biggest city in Britain and one of the most important cities in the world. In London we can find theatres, cinemas and museums. There are many beautiful qld churches in it. The heart of London is the City. It is the oldest part of London. Many people work in the City. You can also visit some interesting places in London. One of them is the Tower of London.
Guide 2: I want to tell you about the Tower of London. It is the museum now. But some years ago it was a fortress, a palace, a prison and the King's Zoo. You can see a lot of interesting things in the halls of the Tower. There are a lot of interesting collections in the Tower of London. The ravens are another famous sight. People keep them in the Tower of London and look them very well as they believe that London will be rich while ravens live there.
Guide 3: I want to tell you about Westminster Abbey. It is one of the most famous and beautiful churches in London. It is very old. There are many monuments and statues there. Many English kings and queens are buried there. Westminster Abbey is famous for the Poet's Corner too. Many great writers are buried there: for example Charles Dickens and Rudyard Kipling.
Guide 4: Now let's go to Trafalgar Square. It is the centre of London. Some people say it is the most beautiful place in London. In the middle of the square stands a tall column. It is the monument to Admiral Nelson. Four bronze lions look at the square from the monuments. There are 2 fountains in the square. They are in front of the National Gallery. It is one of the best picture galleries of the world. Every day many tourists visit this fin building with columns.
