Цели урока:

1. Развивать навыки говорения и чтения по теме “Superstitious”.

2. Учить использовать вербальные опоры в виде слов.

3. Способствовать повышению интереса к изучению иностранного языка.

Задачи урока:

1.Совершенствовать умение и навыки аудирования с полным пониманием содержания аудиотекста.

2. Развивать умение и навыки чтения с извлечением нужной информации.

3. Развивать беглость и гибкость речи.

Оборудование: плакаты, рисунки, картинки для оформления, компьютер, проектор, экран, аудио-магнитофон, аудиокассеты, магнитная доска, раздаточный материал для учащихся.

ХОД УРОКА

T1: Good afternoon children! Today we shall have an unusual lesson. We shall talk about superstitions. And it will be a lesson of merry competitions.

T2: OK! Let’s start. We have three teams. Introduce your teams please. (P1-Our team is…, P2-Our team is…, P3-Our team is… ) Thank you. Now listen to the first task: Each team must describe their captain. The other teams must guess who the captain of the team is. (This is my classmate. She/he is 13. Her/his hobby is… Her/his favourite sport is … Her/his favourite subjects are… She/he is… What is her/his name?)

(Каждое конкурсное задание оценивается жюри, за правильно выполненное задание команда получает карточку. В конце игры подсчитывается количество заработанных командой карточек и выявляется победитель.)

T1: Do you believe in superstitions? Tell me please if it is good or bad luck?

- Black cats in Russia? (In Britain?)

- Catching falling leaves in autumn. What does it mean?

- Breaking a mirror. What does it mean?

- A horseshoe over the door.

- Number 13.

- Friday 13.

- A woman with an empty bucket.

T2: (Task 2) Tell us please: What superstitions do you know? (Называют по очереди)

(touch wood, cross fingers, wear a charm, kill a spider, number 13, a horseshoe over a door, a four leaf clover, a black cat crosses a road, same figures of a ticket at the beginning and at the end of it, you must not whistle at home, you must not open an umbrella in the room, etc.)

T1: (Task 3) Match pictures and superstitions. (Учащиеся соотносят суеверия с соответствующими рисунками, находят лишние, ответы зачитывают по очереди)

  1. You always sit silently beside your suitcase for a minute with your friends or family before a trip.
  2. If somebody praises you or your children's appearance and success you always knock on wood or spit three times over your left shoulder.
  3. You never shake hands or kiss over a threshold: you always step inside first.
  4. You give only odd numbers of flowers to people; you take even numbers to funerals and for the dead.
  5. If you forget something and have to return for it, you look in the mirror and smile or stick out your tongue.
  6. You never give sharp objects, handkerchiefs or mirrors as gifts. .
  7. If you whistle indoors you lose all your money.
  8. You never celebrate a birthday or anniversary early.
  9. You always try to pay off all your debts by the year's end to avoid getting into debt the following year.
  10. Flowers with five petals are lucky and you sometimes eat them.
  11. Bus tickets with the sum of the left three numbers equal the sum of the right three numbers are lucky, so you always eat them.
  12. It's bad luck to walk under a ladder.
  13. If you spill salt you may get sick or quarrel with somebody. To avoid both you must immediately throw some salt over your left shoulder to strike evil spirits in the eye.
  14. You consider Friday 13th unlucky.
  15. Breaking mirrors brings 7 years of bad luck.
  16. You never open an umbrella in the house because doing so would cause a death in the family or fire in the house.
  17. Black cats are evil and can bring misfortune when they cross the road in front of you.

T2: (Task 4) Now you will listen to the tape. As you listen to the story complete the following sentences. (Ауд. Ex. 52, p. 20, Биболетова М.З., 7 кл.)

T 2: (Task 6) And now tell me please what holiday connected with superstitions you know in the USA and in Great Britain (Halloween). What do you know about the holiday?

P1: Halloween is an autumn holiday that British and American people celebrate every year. It means "holy evening", and it comes every October 31, the evening before All Saints' Day. It's not really a religious holiday; it's a holiday for children

P2: Every autumn, when the vegetables are ripe, the children pick large orange pumpkins. Then they cut faces in the pumpkins and put lights inside them. These lights are called jack-o'-lanterns which means "Jack of the lantern".

P3: The children also put on strange masks and frightening costumes every Halloween. Some children paint their faces to look like monsters. Then they carry boxes or bags from house to house. Every time they come to a new house, they say "Trick or Treat! Money or eat ". The adults put a treat - money or candy - in their bags.

T1: Thank you. Let’s sing a song, which children usually sing going from house to house. (Дети поют песню: “Trick or treat” и получают угощение)

T2: Listen attentively what kinds of future is awaiting you: if you find a coin, it means you’ll become rich; figures 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5 show what marks you are going to get at school; a hidden sweet will make your life nice and pleasant, while black pepper will make it bitter.
