Праздник Хэллоуин становится все более популярным в России. Но что дети знают о нем, его традициях и истории? История праздника насчитывает тысячелетия. Она уходит корнями в IX век, когда празднование Дня всех святых было перенесено на 1 ноября Папой Григорием III. До этого 1 ноября у кельтов был свой праздник – фестиваль Самхейн. В Хэллоуине странным образом сочетаются языческие и христианские традиции. Совместив эти два праздника, Папа надеялся искоренить язычество.
Новый виток популярности связывают с Мартином Лютером, основоположником протестантства, и открытием Америки. Первыми городами, где прошло большое празднование, были Лос-Анджелес и Нью-Йорк. Теперь Хэллоуин пришел в Россию. Чтобы помочь детям лучше понять, что это за праздник, я предлагаю провести нетрадиционный урок-конкурс.
Цели.
- Знакомство учащихся с культурой Англии и Америки на примере традиций празднования Halloween (31 октября).
- Мотивация к изучению английского языка.
- Активизация у учащихся творческих способностей.
- Развитие навыков работы в команде

Ход урока
1. Разминка. На интерактивной доске включается видеоклип с песней Мэрилина Мэнсона “This is Halloween”.
2. Основной этап.
Teacher: Have you liked the video? What holiday is it about?
Ps: Halloween.
Teacher: Yes, today we are going to celebrate Halloween. We’ll also got to know some facts about history and traditions of it.
Гаснет свет, включается подсветка, ученики выходят к доске и читают стихи
P1: The air is cool, the season fall,
Soon Halloween will come to all.
P2: Ghosts and goblins, spooks galore...
Tricky witches at your door.
P3: The spooks are after things to do,
In fact a spook brought this "Boo" to you!

Teacher: Do you know anything about this holiday?
Ps: People scare each other.
Teacher: You are right. But this isn’t the only thing they do during this holiday. Look at the screen to see the presentation about the history of Halloween, its traditions, costumes and food.
Teacher: So, who can tell me what country started to celebrate Halloween first? Who were those people who did it?
Ps: Ireland. Druids.
Teacher: What are main the colours of this holiday?
Ps: Black and orange.
Teacher: What is the most favourite food for it?
Ps: Apples in caramel.
Teacher: Which costumes do people prefer to wear?
Ps: Monsters, vampires, witches, devils, ghosts.
Teacher: Imagine that you are going to a Halloween party. Make small dialogues by asking each other what costume you prefer.
P1: What are you going to be for Halloween?
P2: I’m going as a robot.
P1: Cool! I’m dressing up as a witch.
P3: What are you going to be for Halloween?
P4: I’m going as a werewolf.
P3: Cool! I’m dressing up as a ghost.
Teacher: Which Russian holiday does it remind you?
Ps: The night before Christmas. Many years ago people also came from one house to another to ask for some food. Like in Halloween now only children do it.
Teacher: Now let’s divide into several teams of 5-6 persons each. We’ll have a contest.
Каждая команда получает по кроссворду. Ответы пишутся на доске в произвольном порядке, чтобы дети знали, как писать слова. Та команда, которая закончила первой, побеждает в конкурсе и получает 5 баллов.
Teacher: There are many poems about Halloween. All of them use different rhymes. Can you find a rhyme to these words?
Каждый правильный ответ – 1 балл.
Teacher: You’ve done it well. Good of you. And do you like riddles? Yes? Now I suggest that you should guess my riddles.
Первый поднявший руку ученик получает право ответить на загадку. Если ответ правильный, то его команда получает 1 балл, если нет, право ответа переходит к другой команде.

3. Заключительный этап.
Подведение итогов: подсчет баллов, определение команды-победительницы, голосование за лучшие костюмы. Награждение призами и сертификатами.
