Представленный мною урок был разработан на основе дополнительного страноведческого и лексического материала по предмету. Он интересен тем, что проводился в незнакомом мне классе в рамках городского конкурса “Учитель года – 2005” накануне Дня Святого Валентина.
Так как учащиеся класса мне не были знакомы, я знала о них только то, что они хорошо подготовлены, активны и работоспособны. Моей задачей было спланировать урок таким образом, чтобы вызвать активность учащихся на уроке, способствовать их мотивации и, исходя из логики урока, оставить место для экспромта.
В своей работе я стремлюсь поощрять дискурсные компетенции, умение отстаивать свою точку зрения, стремление к нестандартным высказываниям, чему способствует отобранный речевой материал, функциональность, ситуативность и индивидуализация урока.
Цели урока:
- практические
создать условия для развития речевой компетенции учащихся;
формировать лексические навыки по теме урока;
развивать аудитивные умения;
формировать грамматические навыки – распознавать и понимать грамматические структуры, нацеленные на употребление в речи (инфинитивные конструкции);
формировать умение говорить на основе лексического и грамматического материала.
воспитывать более глубокое осознание своей культуры через культуру англоязычных стран;
воспитывать толерантное отношение к другому мнению.
приобщать к иноязычной культуре;
расширять филологический кругозор.
развивать интеллектуальную сферу личности уч-ся (анализ, синтез, сравнение);
развивать коммуникативные умения и навыки.

Ход урока
I. Начало урока.
Good afternoon, everybody!
How are you getting on today?
How are your feelings about coming holiday? Have you already made you plans?
Today we’re going to have a special lesson and the topic of our lesson is also special. I’m sure you are quick-witted and will guess about it.
II. Основной этап.
1. Аудирование.
To begin with I want you to listen to the song and to think what this song is about.
What kind of music is it?
Is it rough or tender?
Before the second listening to the song look at your desks. You have envelopes with strips of paper there. There are lines with words from the song on them.
Your task: listen to the song again and put the lines in order.
Checking: Let’s sing the song with the singer.

PP: words of love:
Lover, sweet heart

Boyfriend, girlfriend
Affection, passion, tenderness
A kiss, a hug, holding hand

All these words are the key words for our lesson today.
Can you guess how they are connected with the topic of the lesson?

PP: I think about love and St.Valentine’s Day.

When do we celebrate this holiday?
PP: On the 14th of February.
3. Игра.
Let’s continue our work playing “Heart game”.
The rules: I’ll give a half of the heart to everyone. On one half there is a question about the holiday, on the other half of the broken heart there is the answer. You should ask questions and find your halves or your matches.
Questions:
- What is the appropriate symbol for Valentine’s Day? – The heart
- What are the most popular gifts on V’s Day? – Special V’s cards, heart shaped boxes of
- candy, jewelry, flowers.
- What does V’s Day celebrate? – Friendship, love and romance.
- What colours are the most used in valentines? – Red, pink and white.
- Whom do we usually think on the 14th of February about? – About moms, dads, sisters and
- brothers, our grandparents and our friends.

Активизация лексики.Now in groups of 4 think:
1. Why is the heart the symbol of love?
PP: Heart –
- The organ inside your chest that pumps blood around your body. Without heart we can’t live.
- People usually mean the strongest emotions and the truest feelings while speaking about heart.
2. Do you remember any expressions with the word “heart” which we usually use in our speech?
PP: In my heart
With all my heart
At heart
Heartless
Heart-warming
Kind-hearted (a kind character)
Cold– hearted (unkind)
Hard-hearted (cruel)
3. Why do people choose red, pink and white colours for this holiday?
PP: Red – is the colour most often used in V’s cards because it’s a symbol of warmth and feelings (passion)
Pink – is a mixture of red and white
White – is the symbol of purity
4. In what ways can V’s Day make someone either happy or sad?
PP: If people are told the words of love and are presented with nice things the holiday makes them happy. Otherwise people become sad.

How do you think why this holiday is so widely celebrated in our country? You know it’s a catholic one. Why do we get accustomed so easily to it?
PP: I think there are not many holidays in our calendar when we have a possibility to mark heart warming feelings so widely.
On the 14th of February in Russia there was a holiday of Saint Timofey who patronized people in love. It’s a pity we forget it unfairly. Luckily our government established a new holiday which we are going to celebrate in July, the 8th. People call it the day of marital love and domestic bliss. It was established in honour of Saint Peter and Fewronya whose marriage became the example of Christian matrimony.
I believe it will become our real Russian tradition.
We’ve spoken about love between man and woman. But we should also remember about love to life, to Motherland, to parents, to friends, to nature, to pets.
6.Организация письменного монологического высказывания.
There is a common thing that we always keep in mind. We dream about ideal relations and of course about a number of qualities that our nearest people should have.
If you think about it what qualities do you want people to have?
What kind of person do you want to see as your nearest one?
(На доске образец) I want my friend to be…
As for me I want my son to be understanding, friendly, kind, responsible and reliable.
(Записать на доске все перечисленные прилагательные).
PP: clever, kind, lovely, outgoing, sympathetic…
(Выходят и записывают слова на доску).
Take a “heart”, choose some words from the list and make a small present to your friend.
Think about your partner at the lesson. He or she is not the ordinary person. They can become your life partners. Make them some compliments, say some warm words. You may begin with “You are a very …person. I want you to be...”
Exchange your hearts.

V.Домашнее задание (на доске): написать эссе на тему “My close friend” (12–15 предложений)
VI. Рефлексия.
На столе в 3 стопки разложены карточки разных цветов: зеленые, белые и голубые. В конце урока я прошу каждого выбрать подходящую, по мнению учащегося, карточку и написать на ней несколько слов о результате урока.
Зеленый цвет – “мне понравился урок”.
Белый цвет – “нейтральный”.
Серый цвет – “мне не понравился урок”.
