Цели:

Социокультурный аспект: знакомство с рекламой на предметы повседневного спроса, с выдающимися изобретателями и изобретениями.

Развивающий аспект: развитие догадки, способности к анализу, классификации, планированию своего высказывания.

Воспитательный аспект: формирование потребности и способности к критическому мышлению, воспитание чувства сопричастности к мировой истории, чувства гордости за достижения своих соотечественников.

Учебный аспект: формирование лексических навыков говорения, развитие умения аудировать с целью извлечения конкретной информации, развитие умения работать в парах и группах, использовать в работе компьютерную программу Microsoft Excel  и выполнять тесты в тестовой оболочке Test 2000.

Оснащение урока: карточки для каждого ученика, компьютеры, магнитофон.

Ход урока

I. Организационный момент

Today at the lesson we’ll work on the theme “Inventions that shook the world”. We’ll make dialogues, do the test, discuss the adverts, play, make a short research and a diagram with the help of Microsoft Excel. Let’s start!

II. Фонетическая зарядка

Repeat after me some words and word combinations.

Microwave oven, mobile telephone, vacuum cleaner, body building machine, Dishwasher, entertain, urgent message, etc.

III. Речевая зарядка

1) Say why people use these gadgets and machines in everyday life.  ... is used for ... . (T-P1, P2, P3)

2) Try to make sentences. ( составить предложения из двух частей)

A computer is used for ...  finding useful information.  Etc. (P1-P2)

3) Try to guess what gadget B. thinks of now. (Загадка) (P1, P2, P3, P4 – P)

Begin your sentences with: Can we use it for...? Is it used for...?

You may ask only 10 questions.

4) Imagine you are in Britain and have a problem in the shop. Try to explain the  salesperson what you want to buy. First listen to the tape-recorder. (P1-P2)

IV. Учебный разговор: “Advertisments”

A lot of people use different gadgets and machines in everyday life. Of course, there are a lot of reasons why they buy them. Let’s discuss these reasons.

a) Try to make sentences and say about good reasons when you buy and use a computer.

Example: A computer is easy to operate. Life is exciting with it. It allows you to find and use the information you need. It is a necessity rather than a luxury.

I can’t live without it. Computer brightens my life. (P1, P2, P3)

b) Try to make sentences and say about bad reasons when you buy a computer. (P1, P2, P3)

c) While watching TV you can see many commercials. They advertise different things and of course among them there are different gadgets. Listen to the tape-recorder and try to understand what thing is being advertised.

d) Now you must make an advert yourselves but don’t say the name of it. Your classmates will guess what you are speaking about. (P1 – P2, P3)

V. Ролевая игра (homework)

Your home-task was to make your own adverts. Now we’ll have a role-play. Imagine you want to work in a large international advert’s agency. Nastya will be a director of this agency. Your task is to advertise your gadget more interesting than the others. If you are the best, the director will give you a wonderful job with a high salary. Let’s begin!

VI. Исследование

a) I want you to answer my question:” Which features are essential for you as customers?”

Don’t forget to use the following phrases: In my opinion, I think, Maybe, etc. Now we’ll make a small research. You’ll work in 2 groups.One student from each group will ask questions to every member and fill in the table.  You have to make clear which features highlighted in the adverts are essential, absolutely essential, useful but not essential  for you . Your task is to ask every pupil from another group  about it and than, using  Microsoft Excel, make a diagram of preferences. After that we’ll discuss our results.

VIII. Подведение итогов урока, домашнее задание

Today at the lesson we have talked about different gadgets, made commercials, a research, exchanged our opinions concerning inventions. Your work was good. Thank you.

Homework:

1) AB ex. 4 p. 92 (for Andrey, Kiril, Yura and Yana R.)
2) Make a crossword about the inventions (for others)
3) Exchange your diagrams and be ready to give full information about the preferences of all members of your group.
