-Good morning, everybody! Let’s begin our lesson.

Today we are working on the topic ‘Phone calls”, and we are going to:

-practice in using words and phrases;

-do many different exercises;

-listen to some phone calls;

-discuss phone rules &get acquaintance with the British

Phone Alphabet;

-learn to leave & take messages;

-practice in dialogue speech.

Before we start, I want you to answer some questions just to prepare for the following work. Look at the blackboard, read the questions and answer them.

Now, will you prepare your home assignments(см. приложение 2.5.), because your work will be based on them. At home you should have studied the examples & learnt the words. I want you to work in pairs for 2-3 minutes to practice the words by fulfilling some exercises. Will you take cards & work.

When we speak on the phone we should observe several

rules. Will you look at the blackboard & read them. Now you’ll work in groups & discuss which of them do you find more useful. Give your arguments.3 min. for this work.

Thank you, good answers. I think you will remember the rules in case you need them in your future job.

And now look at the blackboard, here you can see so called the British Phone Alphabet (the list of easily distinguishable words, each representing a letter of the alphabet). It is used to spell the words while speaking on the phone. You may also use them in your future work.

And now we continue to practice the words. I want you to listen to some dialogues/ phone calls & fulfil some assignments. Will you take cards & work in pairs.

Often, when we call smb. up, it turns out that the person wanted is not in & then we need to leave him/ her a message with necessary, useful or even urgent information. Now look at the cards, we shall begin with exercise 3. (Will you be ready to pass me your cards to check). Work in pairs.(см. приложение 2.3.)

Look at the form of the message. For taking it you need caller’s name, his/ her phone numbers, you need to know for whom the message is & the message itself.

Now I want two of you to read, & all the rest to fill in the messages.

Now I’m giving you cards with different situations, I want you to change your partners & make up your own dialogues with leaving & taking messages.

9. Развитие навыков чтения с извлечением необходимой информации
