I. Introduction.
Today we are going to have a talk about America. At our lessons we learnt geography and history of the country, its customs and traditions.
II. Presentation (Microsoft Power Point). Speaking.
Now look at screen, please. You should comment on the slides you see and add everything you can.
III. Oral topic presentation.
Your home task was to make an American scrapbook. Let’s check it now. Each group should tell us about its work. (Pupils show the scrapbook, tell their classmates about what they have found and prepared and ask some questions to each other).
IV. Reading for detail. Exercises.
I’m sure you’d like to know some interesting things about America. So take sheet 1, please, read the text and do the tasks after the text. (“European Place Names in America “)
V. Listening and comprehension.
Now I want you to listen to a wonderful song “America” by Katharina Lee Bates. Take sheet 2.
You should fill in the gaps in the words of the song.
VI. Presentation (Power Point)
I want to tell you some interesting too. Have you ever heard that each state of America has a nickname? Look at this slide, please. In this table you can find out the information about all the states.
VII. Test.
Now I offer you to do a small computer test.
VIII. Soon we’ll talk about education in the USA, about famous American people. You’ll learn a lot of new things about this remarkable country.
