1. Тема урока: We’ll talk about your favourite books.
2. Фонетическая зарядка:

[a: ] - far, ajar
[ ] - fairyland, strange, stand
3. Listen to the poem “A book” (by Adelaide Love). Ex.16, p.298.
A book, I think, is very like
A little golden door,
That takes me into places
Where I’ve never been before.
It leads me into fairyland
Or countries strange and far.
And, best of all, the golden door
Always stands ajar.
- read it after the announcer,
- read the poem after me,
- read it to yourselves,
- translate it,
- read it aloud altogether.
4. Вводная беседа
What kinds of books do you know? (fiction, history books, books about animals, novels, fairy-tales…)
What books do you like best?
What do you like best reading or watching TV? What is more useful, interesting, boring, useless, cognitive, exciting?
Why?
What is more useful reading or watching TV? Why? (we can take care of our eyes, we can use our imagination when we read, we can only read some stories because we haven’t got films about them).
Can reading be a hobby?

Ex.17, p. 299:
- read Helen’s letter to Mary and try to understand what Helen’s hobby is.
- What is Helen’s hobby?
- and now let’s read the text one by one,
- find some English equivalents,
- find some Russian equivalents,
- answer my questions:
- What is Helen really proud of?
- What books has she got?
- What is Helen’s opinion about reading?
- Do you agree with her?
- Why does Helen go to the library?
- Can you say that she is really fond of reading?
6. Беседа
Have you got a library at home? Are there many books in it? What books have you got? Have you read all of them? Do you always read books up to the end? What is your favourite book?
7. There are a lot of characters in different books. Look at the pictures and try to guess what they are like. Match the picture with the word. (Приложение 1).
8. Now look at the plan of your story about your favourite book. Read it . Ask me any questions. I give you five minutes to prepare your stories using this plan.
- My favourite book is “…..” by ……
- It’s a ……(kind of book).
- The main characters are…. (wicked, kind, beautiful, ugly, brave, friendly, rich, poor, cowardly).
- I like …. most, because….
- After I have got familiar with the plot….
- I like the scenes of describing nature best.
- It shows the realistic scenes of battles (love, fidelity).
- I am fascinated by…..
- This book is easy (difficult) to read (to understand).
- I read it up to the end because it is interesting (exciting, cognitive, useful, easy, difficult).
