Ход урока
1. Оргмомент. Приветствие учителя и учащихся.
2. Беседа дежурных о времени года, месяце, дне недели, отсутствующих учащихся.
3. Представление темы урока. T: The topic of our lesson today is “Countries and Nationalities”. At first I’d like you to recite the poem “Bridges” by Edith Segal (Чтение хором за учителем).
If I were a builder,
I’d make big bridges,
Bridges to far away lands:
To Asia, to Africa, South America,
Bridges to Europe, Iceland, Iraq.
I’d walk round the world
To visit the people,
And when we shook hands
We’d make little bridges.
4. T: I know that you’ve prepared your literary translations of this poem. Will you read them?

5. T: On the blackboard you can see the flags of some countries. Look at a flag and name the country, please. Then go to the blackboard, write the name of the country and spell it.
6. T: People of different nationalities live in these countries. I’ll name the country and you’ll name the nationality: Russia – Russian, the USA – American, etc.
7. T: Now I’d like you to play a game. One of you will come to the blackboard, choose a flag of a country. He/she will not show you the flag. Your task is to guess his /her nationality asking questions: Are you from …? Are you Russian? etc. Работа в режиме S1> S2.
8. T: Now I’d like you to open your Student’s books at page 21, Ex.6. Here you can see some book and film characters (плакат с их изображением вывешивается на доску: <Рисунок1>).
1) At first pronounce their names after me:

2) Listen to the cassette;
3) Say where these characters are from. Start your answer with “I think”. For example: I think Superwoman is from the USA.

9. T: Now you know that Sherlock Holmes is from Britain. But the official name of this country is the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. It’s a very interesting country and I want S1 and S2 to tell you about it. Listen attentively, and then you’ll answer their questions. (Рассказ учащихся о Соединенном Королевстве)
10. Answer the following questions:

THE REPUBLIC OF MARI EL
Our republic is called Mari El. There are two parts in our republic: the Left–Bank Lowland and the Right-Bank Highland.
Mari El borders on the Nizhegorodsky Region, on the Kirov Region, on the Republic of Tatarstan and on the Chuvash Republic. There are four towns in Mari El. They are Yoshkar – Ola, Volzhsk, Zvenigovo and Kozmodemyansk. The capital of our republic is Yoshkar – Ola.
People of different nationalities live in Mari El. They are Russians, Maris, Tatars, Chuvashes, Udmurts.
The Republic of Mari El is rich in forests, rivers and lakes. Different animals and birds live in our forests. Our lakes and rivers are full of fish.
I am happy to live in the Republic of Mari El.
