Of course, Sochi is the most beautiful town in the world. Sochi is a Russian resort capital, situated in Krasnodar region, near the southern Russian border. It is located among the snow-capped peaks of the Caucasus Mountains overlooking the shores of the Black Sea. At 147 km, Greater Sochi is the second longest city in the world. Sochi is situated on the same parallel circle as Toronto, Nice and Gobi desert. It borders Georgian Republic in the south. Population of Sochi is more then 400.000 inhabitants. Annually 3 million of tourists come here to get medical treatment and leisure.

The city is divided into 4 administrative districts: Adler, Khosta, Central and Lazarevsky.

There are many parks in Sochi: forest-park at Mamaika and Matsesta, ornithological park in Adler, botanical garden near Holiday Hotel " Belye Nochi" in Loo.

“Dendrarium” (Arboretum, Botanical Gardens) is a wonderful monument to landscape art. It is the largest Russian subtropical park. It was founded in 1892 and features over 2,000 species of plants brought from different climatic zones of the world, from every continent. The name “Dendrarium”origins from a Greek word “Dendron - Tree”, and means “Collection of Trees”. The collection of the park in Sochi is not only huge but also unique. You need more than a day to see it.

Riviera Park. Almost in the heart of Sochi one of the famous recreation parks "Riviera" is situated. It's a place where you can have fun. For more than 100 years it's been a favourite place for our citizens and holidaymakers. Here you can see more than 240 types of trees. "Riviera" also attracts lots of famous people from all over the world. They leave their green autographs in our park. It is our city's good old tradition to plant trees, create avenues and glades in the name of international friendship. On the Glade of Friendship you can see evergreen magnolia trees planted by statesmen, public leaders and cosmonauts.

In June 2006, IOC president Jacques Rogge announced that Sochi had been selected as a finalist city to host the 2014 Winter Olympics. The other two finalists were Pyeongchang, South Korea, and Salzburg, Austria.

Environmental organisation Greenpeace has objected to Sochi being a candidate, because, according to Greenpeace, several of the planned sport resorts are located in natural reserves The IOC voted on a final candidate on July 4, 2007 in Guatemala City, Guatemala and Sochi won. Sochi will host the 2014 Winter Olympics.
