Цели:
- Познавательный аспект: знакомство с особенностями географического положения Америки, Великобритании, Австралии и России, развитие умения извлекать информацию о культуре англоязычных стран из текста;
- Развивающий аспект: развитие способности к догадке, к сравнению и сопоставлению речевых единиц;
- Воспитательный аспект: воспитание уважительного отношения к другой культуре, более глубокое осознание своей культуры;
- Учебный аспект: формирование лексических навыков чтения и говорения.
Речевой материал:
- Рецептивный: лексический - flood, eruption, prairie, canyon, drought, hemisphere, stream, flow into, valley, volcano, peninsula.
- Грамматический: артикль географическими названиями;
- Продуктивный: desert, plain, coast, hill, island, isles, range, landscape, scenery, unique, useless, huge, tiny, vast, typical of; urban, rural.
Ход урока
Установка: Today we are speaking about geography of four different countries. Can you guess what countries are going to be discussed?
P1: Perhaps America, Australia, Great Britain and Russia of course.
T: You are quite right. First try to remember any words connected with geography.
I. Введение в тему.
1) Прием припоминания - учащиеся вспоминают слова по теме география. (7,8 класс).
T: Now you will learn more. - Развитие языковой догадки.
Some of them you can guess. Listen - tundra, taiga, prairie, steppes, jungles, subtropical.
But there are quite many words which we should know speaking about geography. Will you open your exercise-books and we'll write them down.
2) Приём мозгового штурма: учащиеся могут называть слова на русском языке – учитель произносит их на англ. языке и записывает их на доске, ученики ведут записи в тетради.
Целесообразнее распределить слова в таблице:

II. Активизация нового лексического материала.
1) Использование ИКТ презентации How Different the World Is! Слайды 1- 31 (Приложение1).
T: Look at the slides and name the objects you see.
2) Выполнение упр. 1 стр.4.
T: Using new words will you describe the landscapes on p.3 and 7.What countries are these landscapes typical of?
P1: I think, high mountains are typical of the USA.
P2: I suppose heavy forests can be found in Russia, etc.
3) Выполнение упр. 2 стр. 4.
a) Аудирование и чтение текстов A, B, C.
T: Listen, read and guess what country it is about.
b) Контроль понимания.
T: Have you got any ideas?
P: I think, the first text is about Australia, because this country is situated below the Equator, in the southern hemisphere. Most of land is a useless desert.
III. Актуализация ЗУН по использованию определённого артикля с географическими названиями.
a) Изучение правила стр. 250.
T: Will you read the rule about the definite article and geographical names.
b) Выполнение упр. 3 стр. 6 в парном режиме.
T: Put the definite article where it is necessary. You can do it in pairs.
c) Контроль проделанной работы.
T: Let’s check it up. Who will begin answering?
P1: The USA.
P2: Australia.
P3: The UK.
IV. Подведение итогов. Домашнее задание.
T: You have done a lot today. Your answers were up to the mark (Выставление оценок). It seems that you got interested in geography. That's fine. If so, your homework will be connected with it. Will you revise all the new words, do ex. 1 on p 3 in your Activity Books.
