Ход урока

1. Орг. момент. Good afternoon. Glad to see you. We continue to train our skills in listening, reading and speaking. Time and again we are going to travel to the country of knowledge and skills. In fact today we are going to speak about what travelling is for you.

WHAT IS TRAVELLING FOR ME?

What is traveling for me?
It is the shining sun, the sea;
The golden sand which looks like beads;
The blue-eyed sky and tender breeze,

What do I see when I close my eyes?
A milk-white ship with two red strips;
The limpid clouds at the dawn
And sun, that rises all alone …

And when the twilight falls from height,
The night appears from heaven’s gate.
I see the moon in magic light
And stars, that sparkle at the night.

That’s what I’m looking for in dreams,
And they are my inspiring beams,
I want to see it, to behold
And travel all over the world.

3. Чтение текста (про себя) с полным пониманием.

Лексика и грамматика.

Now read the text “Travelling”. Fill in the missing words in correct forms.

Many people are fond of____(travel).But different people like different means of transport. Some of___(they) like to travel fast, so when they go on a journey, they choose a plane or a fast

train. If they are not in a hurry they travel by bus, by car or on foot. Some people think that going on a voyage is the most fantastic way of travelling.

As for___ (I) I like to travel by air .I like everything about travelling by plane: the airport, the flight itself, the friendly faces of____(passenger) and the food. I usually travel by tourist class, as travelling by business class is rather expensive. I ___(not like) to take a lot of luggage with me. And when I arrive at the airport my relatives or my friends____( usual ) meet me.

So I think there is nothing like travelling by air.

4. Ролевая игра

You have been on a tour to Great Britain. You have 4 hours before leaving for the airport. You and your friends are discussing how to spend this time. You can go to a museum, to the park, to a cafe, shopping.

SPEAKER 1

You think it’s better to spend some time in the open air rather than somewhere inside. The excursion may be boring. You’d rather see some famous sights, take photos and then show them to your family and friends.

SPEAKER 2

You are fond of visiting museums You like the atmosphere there, it is so relaxing. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to see the exhibits famous all over the world.

SPEAKER 3

You didn’t plan spending any more money. You hate shopping. The shops are usually crowded and you are tired of many people around you.

SPEAKER 4

You are tired and hungry. What about going to a teashop or a cafe. They are normally beautifully decorated. You can try delicious English tea there.

SPEAKER 5

You haven’t been to any park in Great Britain. It would be interesting

to know what they are like here. You have already visited so many museums. It ‘s so nice to be in the open air for a change. Fortunately, the weather is sunny, you may enjoy sunny weather and have a nice time in the park.

SPEAKER 6

Why don’t you do some window- shopping. It is fun. It’ a good way to relax. You could buy some more souvenirs. You like giving small gifts your relatives and friends.

SPEAKER 7

You don’t feel eating. You’d rather see more of the town while the time away in a cafe. You are afraid you don’t have enough money for a cafe

SPEAKER 8

You guess parks look the same almost everywhere. You don’t think there is anything special about them. What if the weather changes for the worse? English weather is so unpredictable.

Try to use in your speech expressions of spoken etiquette, expressing your opinion, disagreement, disapproval such as As for me; I don’t agree with you; I think; It isn’t worth talking about it; It seems to me and others.

5. There are various means of travel. We can travel by train, boat, aeroplane, car and finally we can travel on foot. You have, all of you, done a certain amount of travelling, so let’talk about the method of travel you like best.

Проект “What is travelling?”

1. TRAVELLING BY SEA

For me there is no travel so fine as by sea. There are many things that make travel by sea a fascinating thing for me. Though I am not much of a sailor, I love the sight of a ship with its many decks, cabins and state-rooms. It looks like a huge white floating city. It is delightful to be out at sea, too, and promenade the desk or sit in a deck-chair and take the sun.

But what can be compared with the excitement you experience when you sight land! The narrow strip of land on the horizon seems slowly coming towards you. Gradually the outlines of the shore become more distinct, and on coming nearer you get a full view of the city, the harbour, and of the big ships coming in from and leaving for distant lands.

2. TRAVELLING BY AIR

For me there is nothing like travel by air: it is more comfortable, more convenient and, of course, far quicker than any other method. There is none of the dust and dirt of a railway or car journey; none of the trouble of changing from train to steamer, pushing your way through crowds to get from the boat to the Customs (if you travel abroad) and then to another train. A taxi or bus of the Airline Service takes you to the airport. There on the runway you see a sleek and beautiful jet-propelled passenger liner ready to carry you to your place of destination.

3. TRAVELLING BY TRAIN.

Should you ask me what kind of transport I like best I'd speak in support of the train. With a train you have speed, comfort and pleasure combined.

What place is more interesting than a big station? There is the movement, the excitement, the gaiety of the people going away and sorrow of those who are seeing others off. There are the shouts of the porters as they pull luggage along the platforms to the waiting trains, the crowd at the booking-office getting tickets, the children tightly holding on to the skirts of their mothers, and passengers hurrying to board the train.

At last you manage to make your way through the crowd, closely following the porter, who has taken care of your luggage, and get out on to the platform. There are many tracks and trains there. No need for you to look round and read the signs that tell which train you must take. You follow your porter, and here you are.

You show your ticket to the guard and in you go into a most wonderful carriage. All is bustle and confusion, with people filing in, bumping into each other, and what not. At last you manage to stow away your luggage and get out on to the platform for fresh air and bid farewell to the well-wishers who have come to see you off.

But you have scarcely time to kiss and hug your friends vhen the station-master on duty, in a red cap, signals the rain. You hear no shrill whistle of the engine — the train pulls >ut of the station noiselessly and without a jerk.

You are on your way. You start up a conversation with your fellow-passengers (people take to each other quickly when travelling) and soon you get to know who is who and what.
