Оборудование: карта Великобритании, карта Уэльса, презентация «Уэльс», учебник О.В.Афанасьевой и Л.В.Михеевой «English» 6кл., раздаточный материал.
I. Организационный момент
Good morning. I’m glad to see you. Sit down, please. Today I am going to speak about Wales.
II. Речеваязарядка
- Where is Great Britain?
- What parts of Great Britain do you know?
- What is the capital of Great Britain?
- What is the capital of England? Scotland? Northern Ireland?
- Who knows the capital of Wales? (Cardiff has been the official capital of Wales since 1955.)
- Look at the map of Gr.Br. Is Wales a big country? (Wales is not a big country. It is 242 kms from north to south.)
- Look at the picture. Here are the flag and symbols of Wales. Can you call the symbol of Wales? (The symbol of Wales is a dragon. St. David is the patron saint of Wales. In 1953 it was made the official Royal Badge of Wales.)
- The leek is another symbol of Wales.
- The Welsh are proud of their language. Welsh is a Celtic language, and is very difficult to learn. It has musical intonation and difficult sounds such as CH and LL.Many Welsh-speakers use English words and add a Welsh ending, so we hear ‘switchio’, ‘climbio’, ‘recommendio’. Welshmen living in England are often called by the nickname “Taffy”. Many people travel to Wales to walk, to climb, to go in for water sports such as canoeing and fishing.
