1. The beginning of the lesson
Teacher: Good morning, dear pupils! I’m glad to see you today. I
hope you are fine and are ready to work hard at our lesson, aren’t you? So, let’s
start our lesson.
Look at the picture. What do you think we are going to talk about? What is the topic of
our lesson today?
Pupils: answers.
Teacher: The topic of our lesson is “Intelligence”. As you know all people are different and they can be different in different sides.
What Makes people Different?
Appearance, personality, tastes, opinions, education, beliefs, education, language and
culture, behavior and manners, skills and experience, dreams and plans for the future.
Today we are touching the most important person’s trait: intelligence.
What makes one person more intelligent than another?
What makes one person a genius, like the brilliant Albert Einstein, and another person a
fool?
Are people born intelligent or stupid, or is intelligence the result of where and how you
live?
These are very old questions and the answers to them are still not clear.
I hope we’ll find out the answers at the end of the lesson.
We are going to talk about intelligence.
2. Vocabulary
Teacher:
1). To describe people, to talk about intelligence we need many different adjectives.
Read the text and find out the synonyms and the antonyms of the world “intelligent”.
What makes one person more intelligent than another? What makes
one person a genius, like the brilliant Albert Einstein, and
another person a fool? Are people born intelligent or stupid, or is
intelligence the result of where and how you live? These are very old questions and he
answers to them are still not clear.
We know, however, that just being born with a good mind is not enough. In some ways,
the mind is like a leg or an arm muscle. It needs exercise. Mental exercise is
particularly important for young children. Many child psychologists think that parents
should play with their children more often and give them problems to think about. The
children are then more likely to grow up bright and intelligent.
If, on the other hand, children are left alone a great deal with nothing to do, they are
more likely to become slow and intelligent.
Parents should also be careful what they say to young children. According to some
psychologists, if parents are always telling a child that he or she is a fool or an idiot,
then the child is more likely to keep doing silly and foolish
things. So it is probably better for parents to say very positive things to their
children, such as “That was a very clever thing you did”, or “You are such a smart
child”.
Teacher: Is it clear to you what the word “synonyms” means?
Synonym – a word that that has the same meaning as another
word. (Give a synonym of “beautiful”)
Underline these words.
Read them.

2). These are synonyms.
Do you think intelligent and unintelligent are synonyms?
They are antonyms.

(Give an antonym of “good”)
