Today we’ll speak about seasons and weather. Look through the window! What is the weather like today? Is it snowy? Is it frosty? It is winter. It’s cold and dark in the morning. The days are very short but the nights are very long. It’s December. Soon we’ll celebrate Christmas and New Year.

1. English and Russian sayings and proverbs about seasons and weather.
Guess and name the season, translate:
- April showers (ливни) bring May flowers.
- Its raining cats and dogs.
- A snowy year is a rich year.
- One swallow (ласточка) doesn’t make a spring.
- After rain comes fair (ясная) weather.
2. And now we’d like to hear Russian proverbs!
3. Put the extra word away and guess the season:

5. English traditions: dialogues, situations, speaking.
Teacher: We know that English speak about weather when they meet. It’s a tradition. Why is it so? The weather in England is unpredictable, changeable, wet, foggy, rainy and warm. What’s the reason? Think and answer.
Pupil 1: Great Britain is an island.
Pupil 2: There is water around it.
Pupil 3: There is Atlantic Ocean near it.
Pupil 4: There are seas around it.
Teacher: Now we’ll work in pairs. Look at the situations on the cards you’ve got.
1 pair:

6. Защита проектов “The weather map of Europe”. Конкурс на лучшего диктора телевидения. На доске - проекты, учащиеся рассказывают о погоде в разных странах Европы. Речь, мимика, жесты, реакция – учитываются.
England: It’ll be cloudy and rainy. In the morning it will be foggy. The t? in London- 20 degrees above zero.
Spain: Cloudy, rainy, wet. The temperature in Madrid is + 20?.
France: Sunny, windy. The t? in Paris + 22?.
Italy: No rain, sunny, hot. The t? in Rome +30?.
Russia: Warm, windy. The t? in Moscow is +20?.
7. Аудирование: снятие трудностей, слова на доске: in the sky, mouths, rainwater, fresh, it’s raining hard, umbrellas. Учащиеся образуют 3 группы. Задачи перед аудированием: внимательно прослушать текст , подготовить задания по группам:
1 группа - актеры (пантомима)
2 группа - (художники (рисунки)
3 группа – рассказчики (сообщение на английском языке)
Представители групп отчитываются перед классом.

8. Poetry contest. You know many poems about weather and seasons in English. Let’s recite some poems.
