Ход урока
1. Речевая зарядка. Активизация в речи полученных знаний о США
Т.- Today at our lesson we’ll continue speaking and getting new facts about one of the English- speaking countries, the USA.
And now let’s try to check what you know and remember about this country. Take one of these cards and complete it with the right information.

2. Постановка учебной задачи урока
T. – So, now I’m sure that you know many things about the USA and you’re ready to learn something else.
Today we are going to speak about some American holidays.
We know that different countries celebrate different holidays. Tell me what holidays are celebrated in English-speaking countries?
Pupils – Christmas, New year, Easter, Halloween…
T. – Of course, American people celebrate these holidays too.
But we know that many people have come to the USA from different countries and brought their national traditions.
What did Germans bring? (Christmas tree)
What did Irish bring? (St.Patrick Day)
What did Scottish bring? (Halloween)
And today we’re going to discuss some national holidays that are celebrated in America.
They are Thanksgiving Day, Independence Day and St.Patrick Day.
3. Обучение чтению.
a) Predicting
T. – Now I give you out papers with one task. You can see the names of the holidays and some sentences about these holidays.
Look at them and try to complete them. Don’t be afraid if you don’t know the right answer. Try to predict.

T. – Well, you tried to make different predictions. Do you want to know the right answers? So I hope that at the end of the lesson you’ll know the right answers about these holidays.
b) Работа в малых группах (мини-проектная деятельность)
T. – Now let’s make three groups.
Each group gets a card with the texts about one holiday.
You have to read the text about this one holiday, then try to complete the table about your holiday, choose the symbols of the holiday from these pictures and glue them on the piece of paper with the table.
I give you about 10 minutes. Don’t forget about the rules how to work in the group: each member of the group should work and speak, try to discuss everything in English, don’t interrupt and listen attentively to each other. And remember that success of the group depends on collective work.

Т. – Now, I hope you are ready. Let’s listen to each group.
(Учащиеся называют свой праздник, называют факты из заполненной таблицы о своем празднике, показывают символы праздника, которые они наклеили и объясняют их выбор)
(Учитель заполняет таблицу на доске о всех трех праздниках, давая возможность остальным группам воспринимать информацию не только на слух, но и зрительно)

5. Контроль усвоения полученных знаний
T.- Everybody worked very well. You’ve done your tasks. And now let’s check what you remember about these holidays.
Take this paper “Some facts about American holidays” again and try to complete the sentences again. Now you know the right answers.

T.- Well done. And one more task. You know that people in English-speaking countries like singing songs at different holidays. Of course, Americans sing songs at these holidays too.
Listen to three short parts of the songs and try to guess what the holiday is.

6. Итог урока. Оценивание работы детей
T.- So today at our lesson we discussed only three American national holidays. Of course, there are other holidays too. Please try to memorize these facts about these holidays.
(Затем учитель оценивает работу учащихся в группах, указывает кто работал хорошо, а кому следует еще постараться и быть более активным в обсуждении. Затем учащиеся сами оценивают свою работу, что было легко сделать, а что вызывало трудности и т.д.)
7. Домашнее задание
T. - Мы обсудили несколько праздников, а теперь представьте, что вы имеете шанс принять участие в одном из этих праздников, какой вы выберете и почему. Сделайте это в виде небольшого письменного сообщения в ваших тетрадях.
