Цели урока:

  • проконтролировать умения и навыки учащихся вести беседу, высказывать своё мнение по теме “Экология”;
  • формировать у учащихся навыки анализа и сравнения, умения делать выводы;
  • прививать школьникам любовь и уважительное отношение к природе.

Оборудование: постеры с изображением экологических проблем и призывами к охране природы, фотографии, картинки с изображением красоты природы, аудиозаписи.

ХОД УРОКА

I. Организационный момент

Приветствие.

T –> P1, P2, P3

– How are you doing?
– How are you getting on?
– Anything to boast/complain of?
– I’m in the pink, thank you.
– Life is going it’s usual way, thank you.
– Nothing to boast/complain of. Etc.

II. Активизация лексики по теме “Экология”

T: Today we’ll speak about the problems of our environment; the problems of our home-planet.We are responsible for our planet. This problem is widely spread by TV, radio and the press. Do you know what served a man the source of his life since ancient times?

P1: Nature.

T: How did people life for thousands of years?

P3: They lived in harmony with environment and it seemed that natural riches are unlimited.

T: How do you understand “to live in harmony with environment”?

P3: It’s: clean rivers, blue sky, and green grass.

P4: Clean air and water, shining sun, fresh fruit from the trees, green trees.

T: But with the development of the civilization man’s interference in nature began to increase and now our planet is in danger.What problems do we have?

P5:

– Water pollution
– Global warming
– Trash
– Cruelty to animals

P6:

– Nuclear pollution
– Destruction of ozone layer
– Poisons in food
– Wars
– Deforestation. etc.

b) T: Do people worry about these problems?

P1: Many people are worried about these problems and they are trying to do something for solving them. There are many organizations which do much to preserve the environment.

P2: “Greenpeace”–international organization of people tries to find ways of keeping clean air and water takes care of animals and birds.

P3: Environmental protection is international aim. As many as 159 UN member-states have set up environmental protection agencies all over the world.

P3: People worry about keeping of nature, organize demonstrations, write letters to the government and the UN, block the roads, for example, as the Penans do.

III. Развитие навыков аудирования учащихся

1. Let’s listen to the text “The Penans” (tapescript).

2. Answer the questions of exercises 1, 2, 4, 5 page 44.

T:  Now, listen to the text and tell what problems these people care about.

Учащиеся слушают текст (упр. 1, стр.45) в записи на магнитофоне, заполняют таблицу и высказываются по проблемам окружающей среды.

T: Summarize the information in your chart and add your own opinion, using expressions of ex.2d p.45.

P2: Paula is worried about poverty. Some people have a lot of money while other people are very poor, and that’s not fair.Rich people should give more money to help the poor. And rich countries should help poor countries, too. I agree with this, because all people should be equal.

P3: John is worried about cruelty to animals. We keep them in zoos and on farms. He doesn’t eat meat, because he thinks it is wrong to kill animals. We should leave them alone. I agree with this because the animals also have the right for life.

P4: Sally is worried about pollution, because we’re destroying the planet. We’re polluting the air in cities and we’re polluting the sea, too. She thinks we should all use less energy. If we used cars less, we wouldn’t have so much pollution in cities. I agree with this because cars are also the greatest polluters of the air.

IV. Развитие у учащихся навыков анализа и сравнения

T: Speaking about the problem of cruelty to animals we should say that the population of some species of animals is reducing too. What do you know about it?

P1: Tigers are in danger. If nothing is done they will not survive. Most of the world’s tigers are found in India. They are protected in national parks. However, every year hundreds of them are killed by poachers. The tigers are hinted for their bones. These are used in traditional Chinese medicines. When the tigers are killed, their bones are sent to China. There they are sold for thousands of dollars. A lot of poachers are arrested, but many more guards are needed.

P2: There are about 4,500 black rhinos left in Africa, but they are disappearing fast. The rhinos are hunted for their horns. Horns are used in traditional Chinese medicine. In 1970 90% of the black rhinos in East Africa were killed. Rhinos are protected in most African countries. National parks are created. But many rhinos are killed every year by poachers.

b) T: What problems are these posters devoted to?

P1: The slogan to this poster is “Say ‘No’ to Nuclear Power “. This poster is devoted to the problem of nuclear pollution which was caused by the accident in Chernobyl in 1986. Is was terrible. Many people and animals died. The ground, water, air were polluted. It was planned to build an atomic station in our town but after that accident people were afraid of nuclear power. Soon the scientists found out that it is dangerous to build atomic station there because of some geological problems of the relief, so the construction was stopped. But people need more and more energy now and I think that we should build atomic stations but they must be safe.

P2: The slogan to this poster is “Stop Acid Rain”. This poster is devoted to the problem of acid rain. Chemicals, called sulfates puff out of plants and factories. When sulfates mix with clouds acid rain falls and harms lakes, rivers, plants, animals. Sulfates can fall as acid rain many miles away, because of the wind.We should stop the polluting of the air putting safe filters on the chimneys of factories and plants.

P3: The slogan to this poster is “Save the Whales”. The poster is devoted to the problem of disappearing of the largest and the most impressive animals on Earth. They are nearly 30 m long and weigh 125 tons.Howerever since the 17th century they are killed by poachers for their oil and meat, so their population has reduced very much. We should create more national parks and save the whales.

VI. Совершенствование навыков устной речи с использованием изученных лексических единиц по теме. Защита проектов

T: What other problems are you worried about?

P1: I’m worried about the problem of global warming .It’s caused by wastes of coal-burning factories and plants, different ecological accidents which prevent normal circulation of air so the climate has changed a lot. We should put filters on the chimneys of factories and make them work cleaner.

P2, P3, P4: destruction of ozone layer, nuclear pollution, greenhouse effect, deforestation, wars, acid rains, trash, etc.

Дети сообщают о волнующих их экологических проблемах с использованием домашних заготовок плакатов и лозунгов.

VII. Обучение учащихся использованию национально-регионального компонента в устной речи

T: And now let’s speak about our republic. What can you tell about ecology in Tatarstan and Nizhnekamsky region?

P1: Tatarstan has highly developed industry. Giant industrial enterprises produce planes, helicopters, computer systems, compressors, trucks, chemicals. These enterprises are situated in many cities and towns of Tatarstan: Naberezhnye Chelny, Kazan, Mendeleevsk, Yelabuga, and Nizhnekamsky and others. But never the less these plants and factories are also great polluters of nature. Many towns and cities of the republic have dirty air and water. Such companies as chemical plans in Kazan, Mendeleyevsk and Nizhnekamsk puff out their bad breath to the air and dump chemical wastes into water.
We should find the ways to make factories and cars run cleaner. We should clean the rivers and lakes of Tatarstan and stop dumping chemical wastes into the water, put filters at the chimneys of factories and plants.

VIII. T: “It may sound odd to you, but man needs protection and care as much as animals do” (учитель показывает детям плакат с этими словами)

T – Cl: How can you comment these words?

P1: People’s habitants-their homes, towns and cities must be kept ecologically clean. In places where people drink poisoned water, eat bad food and breathe polluted air they suffer from serious diseases and die early: their children are born weak. No medicines prescribed by the doctors can help them. This problem becomes more and more serious with every day.

P2: The modern way of life when people have little exercises, use car instead of walking, watch TV for many hours and work on computers is turning them into legless creatures.

T: What should we do to prevent environmental catastrophe?

P3: We should make cars and plants run cleaner.

P4: We should put filters on the chimneys of factories and plants.

P5: We should stop nuclear tests.

P6: We should recycle used materials.
– We should clear trash from lakes and rivers.
– We should plant more trees and feed birds in winter.
– We should protect crops without pesticides.
– We should save energy.
– We should do all possible to keep our planet clean.
