- Закреплять полученные знания, учить использовать в речи устойчивые выражения, клише, лексический материал по теме.
Оформление:
- Карта Великобритании.
- Флаги англо-говорящих стран: Шотландии, Уэльса, Англии, Ирландии, Новой Зеландии, Австралии, Америки, Канады.
- Символика всех частей Великобритании: чертополох, кислица, красная роза, нарцисс.
- Картинки с изображениями достопримечательностей Лондона.
- Картинки с изображением уличных достопримечательностей: телефонная будка, такси, двухэтажные автобусы, полицейские.
Предварительная подготовка:
- Учащиеся составляют диалоги, используя изученные устойчивые выражения.
- Несколько учащихся заранее готовят небольшие исторические справки о нескольких достопримечательностях Лондона.
I. Организационный момент
– Good morning, boys and girls! I’m very glad to see you. Today I suggest you to
travel around London. Who can answer What London is it?
Of course it is the capital of Great Britain. But before we start our travelling let’s
repeat the words that will be necessary for us.

– But we will travel another marvelous country – The United kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.
III. Работа с картой
– Look at the map. There you can see Great Britain which consists of 4 parts: Scotland on the north, England on the south, Wales is near England and the small part of the country is Northern Ireland is on the east. All the parts have their capital. England – London. Wales – Cardiff, Scotland – Edinburgh, Northern Ireland – Belfast.

– Now let’s continue our travelling and speak about the most marvelous sights of Great Britain. I will show you the picture and you tell me the name of them.

– Now let’s listen to some new facts about the most interesting places of London as the capital of Great Britain.
Westminster Abbey is a symbol of English tradition at its best. The
coronations of nearly all English kings and queens since William the Conqueror have taken
place here. Many of them are buried within the Abbey.
Beneath the roof of this Gothic building there are also the graves and memorial slabs of
statesmen, philosophers, men of letters and other distinguished people. Here you can see
memorials to Isaac Newton, Charles Darwin, Geoffrey Chaucer, Alfred Tennyson, Charles
Dickens and Thomas Hardy.
I want to tell you about Tower Bridge.
Tower Bridge was opened in 1894. It takes its name from the Tower of London. The hydraulic
mechanism can raise and lower the bridge in about one and a half minutes. The covered
walkway between the two towers is opened to the public and offers a spectacular view of
London.
The city’s greatest monument, St.Paul’s Cathedral was built by Sir
Christopher Wren between 1675 and 1710 to replace the old Cathedral that was largely
destroyed in the Great Fire of 1666.
Christopher Wren is buried there. Among the many memorials to famous men within the
Cathedral are the tombs of Wellington, victor of Waterloo, and Nelson, hero of Trafalgar.

– Yes, it is the Clock Tower, 320 feet high and is famous for its immense bell, known as
“Big Ben”.
– Super! Thank you for your tour. It was the tops!
– Not at all. I’m very glad that you like it. Good-bye.
– Good-bye!
– Thank you for your very interesting dialogue. Let’s continue our travelling. As usual we have the guide. Our guide will be Sveta. Please.
– Hello, ladies and gentlemen. I’m very glad to see you. I will be your guide. You
can ask me the questions and I try to answer.

– About seven million people live in London.
– How old is London?
– London is more than two thousand years old.
– What are the most marvelous sights are in London?
– There are some interesting places in London. They are Big Ben, Westminster Abbey,
Tower Bridge, St.Paul’s Cathedral, Trafalgar Square, Houses of Parliament and some
others.

– I also told you about some facts from the history of England. Today you know some facts about Buckingham Palace.
Buckingham Palace is the official residence of Her Majesty the Queen and her family. It isn’t open to the public. The first monarch who took residence there was Queen Victoria. When Her Majesty is in residence the Royal Standards flies over the east of Buckingham Palace.
