Ход урока
Dear boys and girls! I am glad to see you at our lesson. The topic of our lesson is "Free Time". I am sure that all of you have a hobby. Today we"ll speak about different hobbies.We"ll read about some English and American writers and do some exercises.We'll use the textbooks and listen to the tape.
First of all let's train some sounds to improve our pronunciation.

Before speaking about different hobbies let's remember some words denoting them. We' play a memory game. Look at the list of hobbies for a moment. Then I'll close them and you'll name all you can remember.
Pupil 1: sports, taking pictures, fishing.
Pupil 2: traveling, cooking.
Pupil 3: going to the theatre, listening to music, dancing.
Pupil 4: reading fiction, gardening.

Now open your books at page 38 and find ex.11.There are some other words denoting hobbies. Listen to them and read after the speaker. Let's read and translate them.
Pupil 1: sculpture-скульптура, violin-скрипка
Pupil 2: flute-флейта,guitar-гитара
Very well! You must remember some phrases with the words. They are:
to play the guitar
to play the violin
to play the piano
to play the flute
So you should use the definite article with the names of musical instruments in such phrases.
But you must say:
to play volleyball
to play football
to play tennis
Remember the next phrases:
to go in for sports
to go in for swimming
to go in for skating
to go in for skiing
I'll give you the cards.There are some sentences. You should fill in the missing words where necessary using these phrases. I'll give you 3 minutes.I think it will be enough for you.

It was very interesting to know about your friends' and relatives' hobbies. Let's speak about your hobbies.There are a lot of things to do in our free time: listening to music, reading books, magazines, watching TV, fishing, cooking and etc.As for me I like listening to radio and reading books. What about you? What are your hobbies?
Pupil 1: My hobby is playing computer games.
Pupil 2: My hobby is fishing.
Pupil 3: My hobbies are reading fiction and collecting shells.

Can you tell anything about them?
Pupil 1: M. Twain was born in 1835.He lived in the state of Missouri on te banks of Mississippi.He wrote about Tom Sawyer. Mark Twain began to work at the age of 12 and was a sailor.He was a short story writer and the greatest American humorist. He was fond of collecting things which nobody had.
Pupil 2: James Hadly Chase was born in 1906 in London.He began to write in 1939.He worked as a bookseller and wrote 78 books.
Pupil 3: Jack London was born in 1876. He was a son of a farmer and had a lot of jobs.He worked as a newspaper seller, a sailor, a factory worker. He dreamed of becoming a pirate.
Jack London lived in Alaska for some years and wrote 152 stories about the North.
Pupil 4: W. Shakespeare was born in1564. He lived in Stradford – on- Avon.He worked as an actor and acted at the London theatre called “ The Globe”. W. Shakespeare wrote 37 plays and many poems, wrote in the Golden age of English literature.
