1. Оргмомент. Вступительное слово учителя:
Dear friends! Today we’ll speak about the world around, and it’s ecological problems. The word “ecology” came from the Greek “oikos” which means “home”. This idea of “home” includes the whole planet of ours; it’s population, the nature, animals, birds, fish, all other living beings and even the atmosphere around our planet. Do all of them live a happy and healthy life in our Home nowadays? Unfortunately it is not so.
The planet is in danger. And at our lesson we’ll think over the ways we can help to save the Earth.
2. Речевая зарядка. “Let’s Speak About Spring”.
1. Do you like spring?
2. What is the main color of spring?
3. What is the weather usually like in spring?
4. In spring there are a lot of flowers. Do you like flowers?

9. How do you feel in spring?
That’s right. I feel happy too. I hope that you will be happy not only in spring but during the whole year with your parents, friends, and teachers.
3. Речевая практика по теме “The World Around Us.”
Now dear children look at the crossword and read the red line “Earth Day” . Today
is the 22-nd of April. Today is the Earth Day. All people in the world know and remember
it. And the Earth with its problems is the main point of our talk today.
Today we have the last lesson on the theme “The World Around Us” and I want you to
show everything you know about the Earth. I wish you good luck.
1). Prove that:
a). The world is full of wonderful things,
b). There is more water on the Earth than anything else,
c). The Earth is a wonderful place to live.

S1-It’s an interesting world we live in.
S2- Yes, indeed. We fly to other planets and make many discoveries.
S3- We create artificial intellect and get to the depth of the ocean.
S4- We release tremendous energies…
S5- … and course global disasters.
S6- … and pollute our beautiful planet.
S7- Yes, when I went to the seaside with my parents last summer I was surprised that the water in the sea was not blue but brown and dirty.
S8- It’s much the same in many countries and in our country too.
S9- That’s right. Water is very important for life on the Earth. It is in the oceans, seas, rivers and lakes. We’ve already said today that there is much water on our planet and at the same time there is little water on it. It is so because very little water on the Earth is good for drinking. In many lakes and rivers water is very dirty.
S10- I must add it is dangerous to use it when you cook. Even fish die in such water.
S11- For example Lake Baikal is the deepest fresh water lake on the Earth. It is 1743 meters deep. The lake is very beautiful but now it is in great danger because of the factories, which are near it. At some places the water in the lake is so dirty that it kill animals and plants in Baikal and near it.
S12- Exactly so. And we must not forget that some people’s activities do a lot of harm to the forests. People cut down trees to build farms, homes and roads. Many animals and plants lose their homes. This is bad for the Earth’s air too. Modern plants and factories send a lot of smoke into the air. This is also bad because nowadays it’s difficult to breathe in big cities.
S1- And in small towns like our Raichikhinsk too.
Teacher: So, the problem now is to protect life on the Earth, and to save our planet for people.
S2- I’m sure that people all over the world think about our planet. They say our planet is in danger. Many people don’t know how to protect animal and plant worlds.
S3- I don’t agree with you. I think people are able to solve this problem. Have heard that in recent years many public organizations and movements have been established for the protection of nature. In 1987 a “Green Peace” public organization has been set up. Its main task is to combine people’s efforts for peace with huge movements for nature conservation.
S4- “Travels For Peace and Nature” is the name of another public movement that appeared in Russia some years ago. It concentrates efforts on theory and practical work. The movement does all kinds of actions and informs people of the ways, means and results of this work.
S5- That’s right. Much ought to be done to keep the planet suitable for living.
S6- Of course.
S7- We all agree. But there is a good saying: You needn’t fight for clean lines, you should take a broom and sweep your street.”
S8- Ok. Where is my broom? Am I start sweeping the street just now?
S9- As for me, I take care of animals and plants. I plant trees, water flowers, and work in the garden with my parents. In winter I make birdhouses.
S10- And I always take litter home. I have a dog and I keep it under control.
S11- And I never break plants and trees. I never put litter away in the forests and never pollute the lakes.
S12- As far as I know students of our school plant trees, mostly pine trees, flowers and look after them. At the lessons of Biology, Ecology and English we get a lot of information about it but I think in our school we don’t have an environmental program and ecological organizations.
Teacher: Really? Then I invite you to watch an interesting material about it and discuss it later.

Teacher: And what can you say now? Have you anything to add?
(Уч-ся высказывают своё мнение по увиденному).
Teacher: Well, children the problem of ecology is very important now. Your pictures show various environmental problems. And there are projects of the students of other forms. They show how to save the world. Their projects suggest the way to make the world a better place. They call us not to kill the world!

4. Заключение.
Teacher: И заканчивая наш разговор о спасении и защите земли, мне бы хотелось привести вам пример поразительной эволюции сознания: 200 с лишним лет назад Америка провозгласила Декларацию независимости, а сейчас американские экологи разработали Декларацию взаимозависимости- осознание того, что всё в мире взаимосвязано и спастись от экологического кризиса мы можем только все вместе.
