- учебная – развивать навыки говорения;
- воспитательная – прививать любовь к чтению, развивать интерес, любознательность, поддерживать интерес к изучению иностранного языка.
Ход урока
Good morning my friends. Let us begin our competition. Our competition consists of several tasks. The first task: I shall read you extract from books and you must guess:
Who is the author of this book? What book is this extract taken from?
1st team: “She looked up, but it was all dark overhead; the white rabbit was still in sight, hurrying down it. Suddenly she came upon a little three-legged table, all made of solid glass;
There was nothing on it, but a tiny golden key.” (Lewis Carroll. “Alice in Wonderland”).
2nd team: “Mr. Banks said Good bye to his wife, left the house and went down the street to the station with his black bag in his hand. Mrs. Banks went into the living-room, sat down and wrote letters all day to the newspapers.” (Pamela Travers. “Mary Poppins.”)
1st team: “He lived in the forest. He climbed and he climbed, and as he climbed he sang a little song to himself:
Isn’t a funny
How a bear likes honey?
Buzz! Buzz! Buzz!
I wonder why he does.”

2nd team: “Peter wanted to talk to the fairies, but to his surprise they all ran away and hid when he came near they shouted “There is a boy in the park.” Peter thought for a moment that he was the boy because he was a bird.” (James Barrie. “Peter Pan.”)
The second task: Who am I?
Ученик держит в руках рисунок с изображением литературного героя так, чтобы он был виден только зрителям, но не ему самому. Ученик должен угадать, что это за герой, задавая зрителям вопросы, на которые те отвечают “да” или “нет” (не больше 5 вопросов.)

Listen to me and answer my questions:

- Why were the gardeners painting roses? What color were they?
1st team: “They live in seventeen Cherry Tree Lane. If you are looking for number 17 you will very soon find it. It is the only one that needs a new coat of painting.”
- Who lives in this house?
- How many children are there in their family?
- What are their names?
2nd team: “And she went upstairs. Then Jane and Michel saw a very strange thing. The visitor sat on the banisters and slid up them with her bag in her hand.”
- Who goes upstairs in such way?
- What was there in her bag?
The fifth task: “A Bureau of Finds.”
На столе разложены различные предметы (некоторые из них могут быть нарисованы).
Ведущий сообщает, что герои сказок потеряли свои вещи, и просит участников помочь им найти их. Участники конкурса должны отобрать предметы по сказкам.
- Чёрный зонт.
- Ридикюль.
- Лопнувший шарик на верёвочке.
- Горшочек с надписью “мёд”.
- Хвостик.
- Пузырёк с микстурой (на нём надпись “Выпей меня”).
- Белые перчатки.
- Веер.
- Золотой ключик.
- Шляпа.

The sixth task: The competition of connoisseurs.
Конкурс знатоков
На отдельных карточках в беспорядке даны названия книг и имена героев.
Задание: за одну минуту собрать всех героев и назвать книгу.
You must collect the characters and name the book.
The 1st team:
Rabbit, Queen, Hatter, Dormouse.” Alice in Wonderland.” Lewis Carroll.
The 2nd team:
Mr. Banks, Mrs. Banks, Jane, Michael. “Mary Poppins.” Pamela Travers.
Для того, чтобы вовлечь учеников в подготовку и проведение этого мероприятия, целесообразно предложить им следующие задания:
- конкурс рисунков-иллюстраций к книгам;
- инсценировка некоторых глав или отдельных эпизодов на английском языке.
Например, глава 4 сказки “Винни-Пух.”
“Winnie-the-Pooh” by A.Milne Chapter 4, in which Eeyore loses a tail and Pooh finds one.
Данные задания и вопросы дают возможность ученикам показать, насколько хорошо они знают героев и события той или иной книги.
