THEME: WHAT KIND OF TREE ARE YOU?
Цель: Содействие наиболее полному удовлетворению познавательных и творческих и духовных потребностей учеников, через знакомство с деревьями, как жизненной формой растительности и культурой друидов.
Познавательный аспект: Целостное и комплексное восприятие природы как живой единой неотъемлемой от человека системы “Человек и природа”. Учебный аспект: провести практику монологической речи и чтения, изучить лексику по темам “Деревья”, “Черты характера”.
Развивающий аспект: Развивать память, беглость и гибкость речи.
Воспитательный аспект: Прививать учащимся чувство любви и бережного отношения к окружающей среде, формирование нравственных качеств.
Данный сценарий можно использовать на кружковых занятиях как дополнительный материал на экологические темы с уровнем языковой подготовки учащихся 7-8-ых классов образовательной школы.

1. Teacher: Good afternoon, boys and girls. Glad to see you. Take your seats, please. The theme of today’s trip is Nature Study, Trees. The more we study the Natural World the more we study ourselves. First of all let’s remember what a tree is.
Pupil 1: In the dictionary we can find such definition. A tree is a plant, which has a trunk, branches and leaves. A tree lives longer than any other plant. Look at the picture of the tree and you will see. The body of the tree is called its trunk. Many branches grow from the trunk. Some of them go up into the air, some go down into the ground. They are called roots. A tree eats and drinks with its roots, and breathes through the leaves.
Pupil 2: In winter most trees have no leaves. They have little brown buds. When the warm sun comes in spring, these buds open and the leaves come out of them.
Teacher: There are many kinds of trees. Do you remember them? Look at this box. There are different kinds of leaves in it. Try to guess the tree. What is it?
Pupil 3: This is the leaf from the Oak-tree. (Nut-tree, Apple-tree, Poplar, Willow, Birch, Lime, Maple, Rowan).
Teacher: There are a few branches in the box. Look at them. They have no leaves, they have thin needles. Some needles are long, others are short. Will you guess the trees.
Pupil 4: We call them evergreen trees, because Fir-trees, Pine-trees and Cedars are green in summer and in winter. This branch is from the Fir-tree, because the needles are short and they grow separately one from another. That branch is from the Pine-tree, because its needles are long and grow together 2 needles in one bunch. The Cedar branch has long needles, 5 needles in one bunch.
Teacher: Good. Thanks. Now you will read the text and then you will answer the question. (Вопрос написан на доске). Why some trees are evergreen?
Why Some Trees Are Evergreen
The cold days of winter had come, but one little bird could not go with the other birds to the warm south. His wing was broken. And now he was alone in the cold world of frost and snow.
“The forest looks warm,” thought the little bird. ‘‘I shall ask one of the trees if I can live in its branches till spring.’’ So the little bird hopped along till it came to a beautiful birch-tree.
‘’Beautiful Birch-Tree”, said the little bird, “my wing is broken. May I live in your branches?’’
“No, no, Little Bird, I am sorry for you, but I am not very strong,” said the birch-tree.
“Well, the oak-tree is bigger and stronger,” thought the little bird. “I shall ask the oak to help me.” And the little bird hopped to the oak.
“Big Oak,” said the little bird, “you are so strong. My wing is broken. I could not fly away with my friends. May I live in your branches till spring-time?”
“Till spring-time?’’ said the oak. “That is a long time. I have to think of my acorns. I am sorry, but I can’t help you.”
“Maybe the willow will be kinder to me,” thought the little bird. “I shall go and ask her.”
The little bird hopped along till he came to the willow. “Kind Willow,” said the little bird. “My wing is broken. I could not fly away with the other birds. So I am alone. May I stay with you till spring?’’ “I am sorry for you, poor Little Bird,” said the willow. “But I must rest in the winter. I can’t help you. Maybe some other tree can do so.”
At that moment the little bird heard a voice, “Come to me, Little Bird. You may stay with me all winter. Here is the branch where my leaves are thickest.”
It was the fir-tree. A pine-tree stood nearby. It heard the bird’s story too. So the pine-tree said, “I shall help you to keep warm when the North wind comes, poor Little Bird.”
Soon the North wind began to blow and the birch-tree, the oak and the willow stood bare. All their leaves were on the ground. But the North wind did not blow the leaves off the fir- and the pine-trees. They were kind to the little bird. And since that time all the pine- and fir-trees are evergreen. They keep their green leaves all winter.
Teacher: Now answer the question.
Pupil 5: The pine- and fir- trees are evergreen, because they were kind to the little bird and the North wind didn’t blow the leaves off them. They keep their green leaves in summer and in winter.
Teacher: Very good. Thank you. Now let’s work in-groups. The first group we’ll call ‘’Roots’’, the other will be “Leaves’’ and the third group we call “Branches’’. Every team should find the names of the trees in Word Search. Who will be the quickest?

But in some countries acorns are very big and sweet, and the people who live in those countries _3_them. In autumn all the acorns are _4_. Squirrels carry away some of them to the nests. Some other animals eat them. Other acorns lie on the ground under the _6_ .

According to the druid horoscope each one of us was born under
a special tree. They say that having your tree somewhere close
by can help you a lot. When you are tired, or don’t feel well, or
have some problems – go to your tree, touch it, sit or stand under
it for some time and you’ll feel better. If you don’t happen to have
an olive or fig tree in your garden, any tree will do.
Oak is particularly recommended for giving strength and confi-
dence. In general you can be sure that a walk in a forest or a
park will do you good whether you believe in the magic power of
trees or not.

We are really one with nature. The feeling of being one with the world is very ancient. It is expressed in many old books and myths of different countries. From the druid’s culture we can see it.
A MAN IS MADE
A man is made of flesh and blood
Of eyes and bones and water
The very same things make his son
As those that make his daughter.
A tree is made of leaf and sap
Of bark and fruit and berries.
It keeps a bird’s nest in its boughs
And blackbirds eat the cherries.
A table’s made of naked wood

Teacher: We tend to imagine that ancient people were “environmentally friendly” and lived in harmony with nature. A great English writer John Golsworthy gave the wise advice “If you don’t think about the future, you will not have it.” I thank all pupils for the interesting trip in the world of trees. Let everybody remember: we live only once and not a very long life.
