While-reading

Read the text in groups and decide what kind of information is missing in each of the gaps. If it is a name, a date, an event or something else? While reading consult your group mates and use dictionaries if necessary. (3 min.)

Write down questions to ask members of another group to find out the missing information.

A

  1. When did her father die?
  2. Who did her mother work for?
  3. Where did she move?
  4. What did the doctor teach her?
  5. When did the French revolution start?
  6. What job did François Tussaud have?
  7. What did she want to do in England?
  8. When did she open her exhibition?
  9. How many people visit the centre every year?

B

  1. Where did her family move?
  2. What did the doctor enjoy doing?
  3. Why did he move to Paris?
  4. Where was she living?
  5. Who did she meet and marry?
  6. How many children did they have?
  7. Who did she go round Britain with?
  8. When did she die?

Comprehension check.

Ask members of another group questions and don′t forget to write down the facts because you will need them later (information exchange activity).

Now each of you knows all about Madame Tussaud′s life. Find the verbs in the text which can name the periods of her life (making up a plan of the text).
