The Coat of Arms of the town of Bavly

The Coat of Arms of the town of Bavly is included in the State heraldic register of the Republic of Tatarstan and the Russian Federation.

The Coat of Arms of the town of Bavly adopted on April 18, 2001 uses the colours of the State Flag of the Republic of Tatarstan. It is the official symbol of the Bavly region and the town of Bavly. The colours of the Republic of Tatarstan mean: green – verdure of spring, revival; white – purity; red – maturity, energy, force and life. The combination of these colours symbolizes Tatarstan as a renascent republic with pure motives and mature vital forces for the development of its statehood.

At the top of it is kokoshnik ( woman’s head dress in old Russia). It is a symbol of the Slavonic people.

A popular Tatar floral ornament and a tulip symbolize life, infinity and the revival of Tatarstan. Kokoshnik and the tulip symbolize friendship among people. The mountains are depicted on a background of a red disk of the sun. The sun means that our region is in the south-east of Tatarstan.

Ripe ears of wheat and steam of oil show that Bavly is an agricultural and industrial region. The main industries of the town are oil, gas and food. The main wealth of Bavly is oil.

Plant growing is concentrated in the country-side near the town. Farming is the leading branch. The creator of the Coat of Arms of the Bavly region and the town of Bavly is Landysh Bakirova.

Patriotic education of students by means of museum work

The Musa Jalil Museum in Bavly was founded in 1972 to immortalize the life of the eminent Tatar poet, Hero of the Soviet Union for personal courage and meritorious performance of duty and the Lenin Prize for The Moabit Notebooks.

The museum contains one main hall and a smaller one. The main hall contains books, pictures, documents, photos, Jalil’s letters to relatives and comrades and other exhibits telling how Musa Jalil, a poet of courage, struggled during World War II.

It is really an example for the young generation! Schoolchildren addressed R. Mustafin with various requests. He instruсted us on designing our museum. During excursions we read a piece from his letter: “you can see the chamber with the opened door, it is wooden but covered with iron and heavy iron bolts. It has a spyhole and a small window about 20-25 cm. They got food through it. This small window was opened outside and was loсked”.

There you can see 2 iron plates and a table on metal lеgs and a chair firmly fixed to wall. On the right, you can see 2 fixed ringlets, to them people were chained. Here there is also a window about 2 meters high with bars are about a child’s hand size. The chamber is plastered but the top part of it is without plaster, only bare brick. To the left there is a folding iron bed. It is very small. It is about 1, 80 m to 2 ,40 and its height is 2, 5 м. To the left there was a wooden tub (“Parasha”) – lavatory. That was all what person was permitted to have in chamber.

“If you have more questions, I’ll answer” – wrote R. Mustafin in his letter. Decorating the museum he regularly consulted with his designers.

For his historical scientific research work on studying the life and works of M. Jalil. R. Mustafin was awarded the scientific Degree of Candidate of the Phi lological Sciences in 1971.

In 1969 R. Mustafin on the invitation of the Musa Jalil ship’s command made a long voyage around the east and south east Asia and around Africa. As a result of this voyage, he wrote his book, “One and a half of equator” (in the Tatar language. It is entitled as “The sea diary”). On the ocean liner (ship) named after M. Jalil. Mustafin continued to write about M. Jalil in his book. He didn’t describe everything about Jalil.

We had never read the manuscripts of his books before and for the first time we saw them in the museum. In one of them R. Mustafin wrote: “be strong and honest sons of our motherland as M. Jalil was”.

We carefully keep manuscripts of his books.

His creation is actual nowadays. R. Mustafin is deeply concerned about ecological conditions of our republic. The book “Secrets of the Kaban” is a bright example of it. This book had 2 editions – in Tatar and Russian languages. I can see supervisions and reflections on an ecological theme and also literary essays and sketches of lyrical miniatures. We were surprised seeing tremendous facts and arguments concerning the ecological conditions of the Kazan Kaban lake and he took part in expeditions.

The author wrote: “I wouldn’t like the agitation around the main thing”. We shall not forget that the most expensive, valuable treasure of the Kazan Kaban lake is pure clean water, green shores and air enriched with the oxygen.

Since 1991 R. Mustafin has been working as the chief editor of the social, political and theoretical magazine “Tatarstan” which covers many questions, historical materials.

Now R. Mustafin is the assistant of the chief editor of this magazine. He and Albert Khasanov published the book “The first president of Tatarstan Mintimer Shaimiev”.

His merits in literature are marked by various prizes, he was rewarded by “The mark of honour”, “The deserved art (culture) worker of Tatarstan”, but R. Mustafin continued to work. He is tireless indefatigable worker. Nowadays R. Mustafin is searching the 3d note-book of verses by M. Jalil.

In Bavly in the central library in 2001 the exhibition of books “The author of restless pen”, “On waves of criticism” and “On traces of poet M. Jalil” was organized. It was devoted to the 70th jubilee of R. Mustafin. People of Bavly are very grateful to R. Mustafin

It was R. Mustafin who created the M. Jalil museum at school № 6.

The museum consists of the main hall and the hall where the model of Moabit prison is located. In the main hall you see documents, pictures, M. Jalil’s letters to his relatives and friends, and exhibits which tell how courageously the poet struggled during World War II.

The collection of R. Mustafin became the base of the museum. There are all his books with his autographs. You can see rare and very important documents.

In the museum R. Mustafin’s books in Russian, German, Moldavian, Kazakh, Tatar languages are kept. In total there are 78 books, 5 manuscripts.

M. Jalil is very close to people of Bavly because they have learnt about facts of his life from their fellow countryman R. Mustafin at first.

R. Mustafin and Amina Jalil came to Bavly twice.

The museum is awarded with diplomas. It is the winner of All-Russian competitions of school museums. There are many various materials about R. Mustafin. It is possible to open a museum devoted to him .

At the party devoted to the 90th anniversary of M. Jalil and the 25th anniversary of the school museum the head of our town said: “both the brother and the sister are charm, modest and do so much in propaganda of M. Jalil’s creation”.

R. Mustafin is a frequent guest in his native town. He comes to Bavly and takes part in evening-parties devoted to M. Jalil, meets students and teachers.

Every year, on February 9-15 weeks devoted to M. Jalil are spent. We see the merit of R. Mustafin in the fact that the people not only in our republic but also all over the country have learned about M. Jalil and about his feat. He hasn’t only revealed M. Jalil, he still propagandizes him actively and skillfully.

R. Mustafin is 73 years old. R. Mustafin is still bright. R. Mustafin is known by 33 books. His last creation “Kazan and its suburbs” is dedicated to the 1000 th anniversary of the capital of Tatarstan. He has reached the respect and imitation of people by his moral (features). R. Mustafin is an example for us.
