Цель урока: Развитие коммуникативных компетенций учащихся через использование ИКТ по теме «History» (учебник Spotlight 8).

Задачи урока:

  • Образовательные: развивать навыки монологической устной и письменной речи; активизировать ранее изученную лексику по теме «History» в устной и письменной речи; развивать навыки умения общаться на английском языке – диалогическая речь. Совершенствовать грамматические навыки в Past Tenses, Questions.
  • Развивающие: развивать интеллектуальные способности учащихся; формировать умение выделять главное, сравнивать и анализировать.
  • Воспитательные: развивать у учащихся самостоятельность мышления, содействовать профориентации учащихся, формировать потребности в практическом использовании языка.

Применяемые технологии

Оборудование урока: доска, мультимедийное оборудование (проектор, интерактивная доска), карточки.

Ход урока

Let’s look at the map.

Which continents can we see?

Have you ever heard about these men?

Today we are going to read the history of the Englishman who sailed around the world and others. Their names are … (look at the board). But attention in the history is paid not only to discoveries they made but also to adventures that had allowed them to obtain treasures and bring them home.

F. ex.: Francis Drake. He has done this thank to his adroitness and craftiness and these character traits caused the fact that Sir Francis Drake had been called The Master Thief of the Unknown World. Let’s see how it was happening.

Aim: to revise vocabulary. Before we start reading please look at the blackboard.

Here you can see some words that we need for better understanding with the explications of their meaning. We may consult the dictionary to better understand them.

Now make your own sentences with some of these words and present them to the class (4 sentences at least).

Let’s remember which numeral we use when we talk about kings or queens. For example how should I say Елизавета Вторая? Should I say Elisabeth two or Elisabeth the Second? So we use ordinal numbers. Let’s practice them.

Now look at the quotation and explain it.

Give the definitions of the words:

Listen and see if you can answer them.

Now children, your task is to read the text “The Master Thief of the Unknown World” (page 55) and put the sentences of exercise 3 (page 54) in the correct order. These sentences represent the main events about Drake’s journey and you must put them according to the text.

After Reading

Collect information and show Drake’s journey on the map.

Nowadays travelling is one of the most popular hobbies. No matter what kind of trip you take, you often go through a myriad of emotions before, during and after your adventure.

* What makes people travel?

* Why do they want to visit new places?

- People travel to see other countries and continents, modern cities and the ruins of ancient towns. They want to meet different people and make friends with them, to try local food, to listen to different musical rhythms.

- It is very interesting and exciting to travel and to discover new things, different ways of life. We can visit different places of interest and see ancient palaces and churches, wonderful castles and famous monuments.

- From my point of view, some people travel to explore nature, to enjoy picturesque places or just for a change of scene.

* What ways of travelling do you know?

- As for me, I prefer travelling by plane because it is the quickest way of travelling and I don’t want to waste my time on holiday.

- I enjoy travelling by car because you don’t have to buy tickets and carry your heavy luggage. You can stop at any place you like, enjoy the beauty of nature and take pictures.
