Общедидактическая цель: закрепить и проверить знания учащихся по теме.

Триединая дидактическая цель:

  • образовательный аспект: активизировать употребление лексики по теме; проверить знания грамматики по теме Simple Tenses; продолжить формировать навыки говорения и аудирования;
  • развивающий аспект: развивать навыки устной речи; развивать логическое мышление; расширять кругозор учащихся;
  • воспитательный аспект: воспитывать культуру поведения в условиях соревнования; повышать мотивацию изучения английского языка.

Учебный материал:

  • активная лексика разделов 49-59; видовременные формы Present Simple, Past Simple, учебные тексты, сочинения учащихся.
  • Средства обучения; карточки с заданиями, рисунки и игрушки животных, записи музыкальных отрывков, кроссворд.

Группа делится на 3 команды по 4 человека, каждая команда выбирает капитана.

The procedure of the lesson.

Teacher: Good morning children. Today we are going to speak about different things. We shall speak about the weather, colours, music and animals and pets. First of all I want you to answer the questions:

  1. What season is it now?- It is winter
  2. What month is it now? - It is January.
  3. What date is it today? - It is the twenty-fourth of January.
  4. What day is it today? - It is Thursday.
  5. What can you say about the weather? - It is sunny. It is cold. It is windy. It is frosty. It isn't cloudy. It isn't snowy.
  6. What temperature is it today? - The temperature is 18 degrees below zero. Teacher: Thank you. But do you know any poems about the weather?

Pupils: Yes, this is the poem "The World Weather"

In Antarctica it's snowing,
And in Mexico it's hot.
In Japan the wind is blowing,
And in Italy it's not.
In Brazil the sun is shining,
And in Spain the sky is blue.
In Turkey now it's raining,
And in Greece it's raining too.

Teacher: Now you will do the following task: you must read the poem, choose the suitable title and answer the questions.

(The pupils are given a picture-poem)

"A Windy Day", "Clouds", "It's snowing".

The wind is falling, falling in the streets.
The wind is blowing, blowing through the trees.
The clouds are wearing their heavy coats.
The clouds are running, running in the sky.

Answer the questions:

  1. Is it a hot day or a cold day?
  2. What colour are the clouds?
  3. Is it a windy day?

Teacher: So we can say that the colours of winter days are different: white, yellow, grey:but what other colours do you know?

Pupils: red, brown, black, pink, violet, orange, blue, green.

(The teacher sticks coloured paper flowers on the blackboard)

Teacher: Children, do you like to listen to music?

Pupils: Oh, yes we like to listen to music very much.Teacher: And what are you associations with the word 'music'?

Teacher: But, children, do you know that we can express our mood with the help of different colours? Now you'll listen to some pieces of music and color the paper in different colors to express your mood.

(The pupils listen to 10 different pieces of music of different styles)

Teacher: Now I want you to make a picture of an animal using these pieces of paper.

(The children work in groups)

Teacher: Please, exchange your pictures and describe the animal, don't forget to choose a speaker.

(Each group chooses a speaker and discusses the appearance of an animal)

Teacher: Please, give your descriptions of animals. Speakers, you are welcome.

(The speakers describe animals, the rest pupils help them)

e.g. This is a fox. It is a wild animal. It lives in a forest. It is red. Its tail is long and bushy, its eyes are small, its ears are small, too. The fox eats meat and fish and drinks water. I think it is a cunning animal.

Teacher: Thank you, I like your descriptions. Now I would like you to describe your pets.

(Pupils describe their pets showing pictures or toys. They may use their compositions.)

e. g. I have got a pet. It is a dog. His name is Bing. He is big and tall. Bing has got long ears and short tail. He is totally black. He lives with me and has got his own house, where he sleeps. Every day I give him a special food, but he also likes to eat the dinner which my mother cooks. I like to walk with Bingo in the park. We play together. It is a clever dog and I like him.

Teacher: Your task is -to solve a crossword.
