Задачи и цели:

1. Общеобразовательные:

  • создание проблемной ситуации, максимально приближенной к жизненно-важной и ее решение через применение усвоенных знаний, умений и навыков в новой ситуации.

2. Развивающие:

  • активизировать познавательную деятельность учащихся, стимулировать их самостоятельность в поисках нужной информации;
  • дать учащимся возможность оценивать свой уровень владения английским языком;
  • способствовать столкновению различных мнений, а, следовательно, развитию дискуссии.

3. Воспитывающие:

  • формировать познавательные интересы;
  • способствовать осознанному изучению английского языка;
  • вызывать уверенность у учащихся в своих силах;
  • содействовать развитию такого качества, как самостоятельность и инициативность.

4. Практические:

  • закрепить в речи учащихся лексику по теме “Welcome to Melbourne”;
  • систематизировать знания учащихся о достопримечательностях Мельбурна, обычаях страны (Австралии).

Тип урока: комбинированный речевой урок.

Вид урока: урок закрепления речевых образцов.

Форма урока: ролевая игра.

  • плакат с надписью “Knowledge is Power”;
  • карточки с тестами;
  • карточки с пословицами;
  • цветные фишки;
  • доска;
  • бумага, фломастеры;
  • призы.

  1. Приветствие. Знакомство.
  2. Сообщение темы и задач урока.
  3. Речевая зарядка.

II. Основная часть.

  1. Аудирование. (4 мин.)
  2. Чтение. (14 мин.)
  3. Говорение. (10 мин.)
  4. Письмо (тест). (5 мин.)
  5. Работа с пословицами.

III. Заключительный этап. (5 мин.)

  1. Составление заключения о работе уже на уроке.
  2. Оценивание работы учащихся.
  3. Подведение итогов.
  4. Прощание.

Ход урока.

I. (2 min.)

  1. T: I’m glad to greet you, dear boys and girls, our guests, all the participants of our meeting. Today we’ll travel from Russia to Australia. Welcome to Australia.
  2. I promise our trip will be interesting. The aim of our meeting is to get acquainted with the sightseeings of Melbourne and to learn more about this city.
  3. You’ve read much about Australia and I want you to use your knowledge in practice because Knowledge is Power. Have you ever been to Australia? We’re going to have some fun and we’ll do some role play.

Be attentive, think, make notes and at the end of the lesson you’ll make a conclusion about your trip. You’ll get cards of different colours for your work at the lesson. Success attend you!

T: Let me introduce to you, Russian students, who came to Melbourne on a trip during their holidays and Australian students, Vadim and Alina, who will help you.

P1 V: Thank you. Welcome to Melbourne. I think you’ll enjoy travelling around the city.

P2 V: We’ll point out the most interesting sights of Melbourne.

Melbourne is a very multi-cultural city. Over a quarrel of the population was born overseas. It is home to many cultural groups, speaking 170 languages and giving Melbourne a unique character. Melbourne has one of the largest Greek and Italian populations in the world.

Melbourne is the acknowledged Culture capital of Australia, with world-class music, dance, opera, comedy and theatre.

The architecture in Melbourne has been carefully planned. When designing buildings, architects in Melbourne think hard about scenery and the surroundings of the building-site.

The National Gallery of Victoria, established in 1861, is the state Art gallery. The Gallery presents exhibitions of historical and contemporary art from within Australia and overseas. This place is worth visiting.

Questions:

  1. How many languages do the people living in Melbourne speak?
  2. Do many Greeks and Italians live in Melbourne?
  3. What is considered to be the acknowledged Culture Capital of Australia?
  4. What do architects think about when designing buildings in Melbourne?

P2: To get more information about Melbourne you are to read the text. After reading you’ll translate the sentences with Complex Subject and do a test.

P1: Translate the sentences with Complex Subject:

  1. The architecture in Melbourne is said to have been carefully planned.
  2. January and February are known to be the hottest months in Melbourne.
  3. Surfing is considered to be one of the most popular sports in Australia.
  4. The Melbourne zoo is believed to be one of the oldest zoos in the world.
  5. A lot of tourists are supposed to arrive in Sydney during the Olympic Games.

P1: You’ve got some pictures of sightseeings. Look at the pictures, in groups, guess, name and describe them.

In 2 groups the pupils do this task. P1 shows the pictures of Melbourne on the blackboard.

(10 min.)

P1: And now lets’ talk about school life in Melbourne.

The Russian pupils talk about school life in Melbourne with Tom in pairs. (2 pairs)

One pupil begins smoking.

P1: Don’t smoke. Smoking is unhealthy. Any form of addiction in our country is unhealthy, whether it is tobacco, drugs, alcohol. Smoking is forbidden for teenagers in Australia. Do you know that every year 3 million people die of smoking?

P2: Do you know that only 15 % of the population smoke in Australia, but in Russia – more than 76 %?

P1: 400 000 people die in Russia every year as a result of smoking.

P2: Imagine that a whole city like Ufa disappears every year. Good health is above wealth.

T: What other places of interest would you like to visit in Melbourne&

What problems would you like to discuss?

What do you want to talk about?

Pupils work in 2 groups.

III. 5 (min.)

1. P1P2: Our lesson is coming to an end. We think you have enjoyed a wonderful travelling around Melbourne. We spoke about sightseeings, school life in Melbourne, about smoking. You want to know more about Melbourne, teenagers, their problems, music. You want to go to the disco, to listen to music. You’ll have a pleasant stay in Melbourne.

We wish you to be healthy, wise. May all your dreams come true.

2. T: In conclusion, I’d like to thank all the participants of our meeting. All of you were good in your role play and at the lesson. We’ll discuss your problems, questions at the next lessons.
