T: I see you know a lot of English words and have done my
quiz very well. Now, let’s think over some more information.
Pre- listening tasks.
T: What months in a year are for school?
Pp: September, October,.etc. There’re 9 months for
school.
T: Are there any holidays during the school year?
Pp: Yes, there are.
T: What do you do on autumn holidays?
Pp: I go for a walk, visit my granny, play computer
games… etc.
T: What do you do on winter holidays?
Pp: I go skating, skiing, ….etc
T: What do you do on spring holidays?
Pp: I read books, go to the cinema, etc.
T: What do you do on summer holidays?
Pp: I go camping; go to the country, etc.
T: Do you learn English on holidays?
Pp: sometimes, never, etc.
T: Dear students, would you ever agree to go to school in
summer?

Interviewer: Welcome to Plymouth summer language school.
Summer is the holiday season but a lot of children choose to go in
summer to learn English. Why do they do that? Why do they need
English? Let’s ask them. Excuse me, can I ask you a few
questions?
Azuko: Yes, sure.
Interviewer: What’s your name and where are you from?
Azuko: My name is Azuko and I’m from Japan.
Interviewer: Why are you here at school in summer?
Azuko: I’m learning English and it’s a summer school.
Interviewer: Why are you learning English?
Azuko: I like playing computer games. I have a lot of
friends all over the world. I write e-mails to them. I think it’s
important to speak to people from different countries. I learn
about different cultures. And I want to go to a college in
England.
Interviewer: Thank you, Azuko. Hello, can I ask you a few
questions?
Why are you here at school in summer?
Annika: My name’s Annika and I’m from Germany. When I
finish school I want to go to Hollywood and to be an actress. I
listen to lots of English songs. I want to know English to
understand what they sing about. And I learn English at my school
in Germany. It’s great because you need English everywhere.
Interviewer Thank you, Annika. Hello, can I ask you a few
questions?
Why are you here at school in summer?
Sasha: My name’s Sasha and I’m from Russia. All my
friends are on holiday now and I’m here at school. But I have more
fun because I’m learning English and I surf the Internet a lot.
There are lots of interesting websites in English about everything.
And of course I need English to read my favourite books about Harry
Potter and Sherlock Holmes.
Interviewer: Thank you. As you see there are lots of
reasons to learn English. Come to Plymouth summer language school
and learn English with us!

Reading
T: Read and say what job the person does: a pilot, a
computer programmer, a travel agent.
