  • раздаточный материал (5 заданий для каждой команды);
  • карточки с описаниями достопримечательностей для учителя;

Оформление кабинета: На доске размещаем картинки с изображением достопримечательностей России и герба страны.

Ход викторины

Учитель называет тему викторины и объясняет правила игры. Учащиеся делятся на команды по 3-4 человека, выбирают капитана и название для своей команды. Названия команд записываются на доске и в карточках жюри. Баллы подсчитываются после каждого задания. Побеждает команда, набравшая наибольшее количество баллов.

Teacher: Goodmorning, children! Welcome to our game "Landmarks of my country". As you know, Russia is the biggest country in the world, so there are a lot of wonderful places in it. Today we will speak about the highest mountains and the deepest lakes, the most famous museums, galleries and theatres, the most beautiful squares, churches and cathedrals. You will work in teams. Please devide into two groups and choose the captain and the name of your team… I see that you are ready. Let's start. We have got 5 tasks.

Задание 1. Учитель дает краткое описание достопримечательностей в России на английском языке, если команда знает название, один из участников команды поднимает руку и даёт ответ. Каждый правильный ответ приносит 1 балл команде.

Task 1. Listen to me and say what wonderful place I am speaking about. Raise your hand if you know the answer. If your answer is correct, your team gets 1 point.

  1. A museum of art and culture situated in Saint Petersburg. It is one of the biggest and oldest museums of the world. There are 3 million works of art in this museum and the largest collection of paintings in the world. (The State Hermitage)
  2. A television and radio tower in Moscow, which is taller than the Empire State building. This construction has 45 levels and has no equal in the world. Standing 540 meters tall, it is the highest building in Europe and Asia. (Ostankino Tower)
  3. The deepest and one of the clearest lakes in the world, which is 25 million years old. It contains 20 per cent of the world's fresh water. (Lake Baikal)
  4. The highest mountain in the Caucasus and the highest mountain in Europe. Its height is 5642 metres. (Mount Elbrus)
  5. A summer residence of the Russian monarchs located not far from St. Petersburg. It is a brilliant palace and park ensemble with 150 fountains. It is sometimes called the Russian Versailles. (Peterhof)
  6. The heart of Russia and the central square of Moscow, one of the most beautiful and famous places in the world. It used to be Moscow's main market place, now it is used for festivals, public ceremonies and proclamations. (Red Square)
  7. A historic theatre in Moscow, with one of the oldest and greatest opera and ballet companies in the world. It was opened in 1825. (The Bolshoi Theatre)
  8. The official residence of the President of Russia, the symbol of our capital. (The Kremlin)

Задание 2. Учитель раздаёт задание каждой команде. Учащиеся соединяют слова в колонках, вписывают букву, соответствующую правильному ответу, в клеточки и отгадывают ключевое слово - LANDMARKS. За каждый правильный ответ команды получает 1 балл.

Teacher: Work in teams. Match the two columns, fill out the table and find the key word. The team gets 1 point for each correct answer.

Задание 3. Учитель записывает на доске словосочетание The Russian Federation, дети должны составить слова из букв, входящих в название нашей страны. В словах должно быть не менее 3 букв, это могут быть существительные (кроме имен собственных), прилагательные, числительные и глаголы (в начальной форме). Время выполнения задания ограничено до 3-5 минут. Команда получает 1 балл за каждое правильное слово.

Teacher: Pupils, do you know the official name of our country? Right, the Russian Federation. Your next task is to make up the words from these letters. You have only 5 minutes to do this task.

Задание 4. Учитель раздает каждой команде карточки со словами (или фразами). Учащиеся должны расставить эти слова в правильном порядке, чтобы прочитать пословицы и поговорки о любви к своей стране. Учащиеся работают сначала индивидуально, а потом в команде. Каждое правильное предложение приносит 1 балл команде.

Teacher: Put the words into the correct order and read the proverbs. The team gets 1 point for each correct proverb.

Задание 5. Учитель раздает задания каждой команде. В каждом предложении пропущено слово. Ученики должны отгадать слово и написать его, поставив буквы в правильном порядке. За каждое правильно написанное слово команда получает 1 балл.
