Give a talk about teen fashion.
Remember to say:
- what clothes you usually wear on week days and at parties.
- where and how often you buy clothes and who pays for them.
- what kinds of clothes are in fashion at the moment, why clothes are important for you.
- who changes fashion the most (the media, celebrities, bloggers) and how
You have to talk for 1.5-2.5 minutes. The examiner will listen until you have finished. Then she/he will ask you some questions.
People have always wanted to look attractive. Clothes let us look nice and stylish. We can choose different clothes to wear on different occasions. Most of us, especially teens, prefer to put on casual clothes on week days such as jeans, sweatshirts, jumpers or hoodies to school or a college. As for footwear we choose sports shoes or sneakers. Such clothes are comfortable and easy to look after. In summer we wear pants and T-shirts. People wear more formal clothes to work, we put on something smart to go to the theatre, restaurant or a party, for example a dress or a suit with a shirt.
I always shop for clothes with my Mum. We go shopping to a shopping centre or a shopping mall. There are lots of department stores to choose from. We buy clothes that suit me. First I try them on to see how they fit and then pay for them. I don't have enough pocket money to pay for my clothes.
Teenage fashion isn't much different from adult fashion today. Most people prefer wearing clothes which feel comfortable and shoes that are the right size and don't hurt. So jeans, T-shirts in the summer time, sweatshirts are popular with children and grown-ups today.
Fashion is changing all the time, things that look old-fahioned have suddenly become trendy and stylish again.
Fashion is a big business, Clothing companies look for new ideas. Fashion designers follow the latest trends. Celebrities and bloggers also do their part. Brand name clothes are very expensive to buy and few can afford them but we all can follow the latest trends to get up-to-date looks.
Finally, I'd like to day that clothes are like the cover of a book. They may look nice, but it's important what is inside.
