Цель и задачи:
- образовательные: обобщить и систематизировать умения и навыки на основе монологических и диалогических высказываний по теме “Английский – международный язык” в форме интеллектуально-лингвистические игры.
- Развивающие: развивать воображения, память, логику, умения высказывать свою точку зрения, личное отношение к поставленной проблеме и умения аргументировать свое мнение.
- Воспитательные: воспитывать умение работать в коллективе и развивать навыки взаимопонимания.

- 2 альбомных листа;
- географическая карта мира;
- 2 листа с названиями стран (приложение 1);
- 2 листа со словом “misunderstandable”;
- конверты с разрезными буквами (приложение 2);
- 2 листа со словами на соответствие (приложение 3);
- 2 кроссворда по т “Американский - Английский” (приложение 4);
- грамоты;
- черные и золотые бумажные звезды
Ход мероприятия
1. Greeting.
Good afternoon, boys and girls! Today we’ll try to check if you know English quite well. But first of all we should be divided into 2 teams. You should think about your names and your emblems. I’ll give you a sheet of paper to these purposes and several minutes to do it. Are you ready? Let’s greet each other. Now let me introduce our judges.
2. The first contest “Do you know English-speaking countries?”
The purposes of this contest are to show on the geographical map, to pronounce correctly the names of English- speaking countries and to say some words about their geographical positons. Every country you’ll have name will bring you 3 points. Are you ready? You are welcome.
3. The second contest “Countries and citizens”
I’ll you a sheet of papers (приложение 1) with the names of the counties. Your task is to say the nationality and the official language of these countries. Each citizen with his official language will bring your 2 points. For this task I give you several minutes. Let’s start.
4. The third contest “A word-game”
Now it’s high time to find out whose vocabulary is the richest. Every team gets a card with a long word. (You should give the sheets of paper with the word “misunderstandable”.)You should to make other words using only letters that this long word contains. The winner will be the team that will have found the largest number of words. Every word will bring you 1 point. You have 5 minutes to do this task.
5. The fourth contest “Riddles”
The next task is to guess the names of these countries. Each right answer will bring you 5 points.
- This is one of the largest countries of the world. It is washed by the Atlantic Ocean in the East and by the Pacific Ocean in the West. (The USA)
- This country has a very high living standard. People speak many languages there. The main symbol on the flag is a maple leaf. (Canada)
- It is a country which looks like an island. It’s not very big, but it’s very beautiful. It’s the country of fog and rain. There are a lot of places of interest. (Great Britain)
- This country occupies a whole continent. It has strange animals and plants. It’s very far from our country. (Australia)
6. The fifth contest “The ABC game”
I’ll give you the envelope with some letters from English alphabet. You should put these letters in a right order so that you will have the name of the country. The name of this country will bring you 10 points. You will have 5 minutes to do this task. (приложение 2). The right word is Northern Ireland.
7. The sixth contest “Parts and wholes”
I’ll give a sheet of papers with two columns. Your task is to match these two parts of the words so as to get several names. Each correct answer will bring you 1 point. The additional 5 points for the each correct answer you may earn if you say some words about these names. You will have 3 minutes to do this task. (приложение 3)
8. The last contest “English or American?”
I’ll give the crossword. You should find all suitable variants of American English words using equivalents of British English words. You may earn 8 points in this task. You will have 5 minutes to do this task.
9. Reflection
So, it’s time to make the conclusion. Our jury will say the results of our competition “Do you know English?”
