В процессе обучения и воспитания учащихся внеклассная работа по иностранному языку имеет большое общеобразовательное, воспитательное и развивающее значение. Эта работа не только углубляет знания иностранного языка, но и способствует расширению культурного кругозора, эрудиции учащихся, развитию их творческой активности, эстетических вкусов и, как следствие, повышает мотивацию к изучению языка и культуры другой страны. Если внеклассная работа является логичным продолжением классной работы, это дает возможность учащимся использовать знание иностранного языка как средство общения, а увлекательные формы внеклассной работы помогут создать прочную мотивационную основу для изучения иностранных языков и стать значительным резервом и средством достижения целей обучения.

Jeopardy – это интеллектуальная игра на английском языке, позволяющая учащимся проверить и показать свои знания не только английского языка, но и других предметов, изучаемых в школе: истории, географии, биологии, искусства и др.

Название Jeopardy в английском означает опасность или риск проиграть, поэтому такое название и было выбрано для игры.

Данная методическая разработка внеклассного мероприятия по английскому языку в форме игровой викторины по страноведению ставит своей целью показать роль изучения английского языка в формировании общего уровня образованности и культуры.

Игра – первая деятельность, которой принадлежит особенно значительная роль в развитии личности, в формировании ее свойств и обогащении ее внутреннего содержания.

Цели викторины: актуализация и систематизация знаний по теме “The World of English”

Задачи викторины:

Образовательные:

  • актуализировать и систематизировать ранее полученные знания учащихся по страноведению;
  • расширить культурный кругозор учащихся по теме “The World of English”;
  • создать условия для совершенствования уровня устной речи в форме обсуждения, дискуссии;
  • формировать умение применять ранее полученные знания на практике.

Развивающие:

  • развивать навыки групповой самоорганизации, умения вести учебный диалог, дискуссию;
  • развивать творческое мышление учащихся средствами ранее изученного материала по страноведению;
  • развивать навыки логического мышления, познавательный интерес и творческие способности учащихся.

Воспитывающие:

  • воспитывать у учащихся культуру общения, чувство толерантности в процессе осуществления дискуссии, учебного диалога;
  • воспитывать у учащихся уверенность в своих силах при нахождения путей решения поставленной задачи.
  • воспитывать уважительного отношения к культуре страны изучаемого языка и её жителям.

Викторина “DO YOU KNOW THE WORLD OF ENGLISH?” сделана по типу телевизионной передачи “Своя игра”.

Игра включает в себя 3 раунда:

Раунд №1

  4. British and American English
  5. Interesting places

Раунд №2

  1. Sport and Transport
  2. Education
  3. Politics
  4. Australia
  5. Grammar

Раунд №3

  1. There are 5final questions.

Каждый раунд содержит специальную категорию “Кот в мешке” и “Аукцион”.

Оборудование: компьютер, проектор, презентация, карточки для ответов, жетоны, бумага, ручки.

Ход викторины

- Good afternoon, dear friends! Nice to meet you! I am very glad to greet you here in our studio, moreover, I am very proud to see you here as participants of our Jeopardy Game. It is devoted to a mysterious, amazing world, the world of English.

- First of all I’d like to introduce the rules of the game to you. We have ... teams which are called … . You have to pass three rounds. Each round has five sections; in each section, there are five questions. According to their difficulty, each question may bring you from 100 to 500 points in the first round, from 200 to 1000 points in the second round, and from 300 to 1500 points in the third one.

The right to answer the question belongs to the team, which raises its emblem up first.

If the answer is correct, the team will get the number of the points the question costs. If you give the wrong answer you will lose a number of points according to the question’s rate, and the other team may try to give its variant of the answer.

Each round has three Auction questions (they are marked out). If a team chooses such a question it has to make a stake to play in the game, otherwise the question can be “re-bought” by the other team.

Each round has “A Pig in a Poke”. The team can answer the question or give it someone.

The last round is called “Final” Each team makes a stake according to the number of points the team has by the beginning of the Final Round. The teams answer the Final questions in writing and depending of right or wrong answer gets or loses the number of points worth their stakes.
