Задачи мероприятия:
- обобщение лексического материала по теме “Спорт” “Универсиада”;
- обобщение грамматического материала;
- развитие навыков говорения, аудирования, чтения и письма по теме.

- развитие коммуникативных навыков по теме “Спорт” и “Универсиада”;

T: Good afternoon our city volunteers. You know that Kazan is the city of sports. Sports and physical training became a life style for great amount of people, living in Kazan. Our city many times became the arena for large international and All-Russian competitions. Kazan was always famous for its sports achievements. Best players become the members of national teams of the country. That is why Kazan had been announced as the venue of the Universiade 2013. I think you’ve guessed what we are going to speak about. As the theme of our class is “Sport and the Universiade”, we will have a competition between 2 teams. You should give your teams a name according to the theme of our lesson. Our competition will consist of different parts. I read you a question and you answer it. If you don’t know the answer the other has the right to answer. For each part every team gets some points. The team that gets more points at the end of competition wins. I wish you success and good luck.

T: Universiade is the second international multi-sport event after the Olympic Games. Russia hosted Universiade only once– student games were held in 1973 in Moscow. Russia couldn’t win the right to host the Universiade for 40 years. But today political and economic stability of the country enabled us to do it. That is why the Universiade in Kazan is a victory of new Russia.

(A stylized tulip, made in FISU brand colours and containing the image of the Latin letter “U”. The basis of the brand sign is the so-called floral style that is in the basis of a modern Tatar ornament. In addition, the flowers are an essential attribute of summer; a symbol of youth and development, joy and happiness).
5. What does the Universiade logo represent?
(It represents a compact right-angled design consisting of the English words of Universiade, Kazan, Russia, 2013 and five FISU stars symbolizing five continents. In the language of the international communication the logo determines clearly and definitely when and where the Universiade will be held.
6. When and where will the Universiade Opening and Closing Ceremonies take place?
(It will take place on the 6th and on the 17th of July at the Central Stadium).
7. Where will athletes live during the Universiade?
(They will live in the Universiade Village.).
8. What do you know about the Universiade Village?
(It is located in a picturesque area, there are four corps in the territory of the village. The accommodation of athletes in two-room apartments with kitchen, toilet, and bathroom is provided. Medical rooms and recreation for meetings is situated on the first floor of the corps. You can see dining hall, the Information Centre, the International Centre of Universiade, Medical Centre, training stadium, two sports halls, centre for the service staff and parking is provided on the territory of the village).
9. How many obligatory and additional sports will be carried?
(13 obligatory and more 11 additional sports).
10. Can you name them?

- It is an outdoor game played by two teams with an oval egg-shaped ball that you kick or carry. (Rugby).
- It is a game played by two teams of eleven players who try to kick a ball into the other team’s gate. (Football).

T: There are a lot of famous Russian sportsmen and Olympic Champions in our country. Tatarstan is the land of well-developed sportsmen, famous athletes, the Olympic Champions known all over the world. Our native city was always famous for its sports achievements. Kazan sport teams successfully participate in water polo, volleyball, basketball, ice hockey, field hockey, bandy, rugby all-Russian competitions and have brought fame by their victories in Russian and European competitions, become the members of national teams of the country.

Pavel Bure (Champion of Olympic Games), Maria Gharapova (a famous basketball player), Irina Slutskaya (a great Russian ice skater), Alina Kabaeva (an excellent gymnast), Vladimir Klichko (the gold prize winner), Valeriy Kharlamov (a brilliant hockey player), Rashid Nezmetdinov (was a famous chess champion of Tatarstan and Russia who wrote books on chess in the Tatar language), Svetlana Demina (a silver medal in sports gymnastics), Denis Kapustin (a bronze medal in athletics), Darya Shkurkhina and Elvira Khasyanova (gained victories together with their teammates in group on gymnastics rhythmic and synchronized swimming), Maria Andreeva (a Tatar world champion of diving, who won a lot of gold, silver and bronze medals), Gulnara Galkina-Samitova(beat world record in 3 000 m speeplechase).
T: Owing to the Universiade new objects have appeared in the centre of Russia meeting all the world standards and ready to host any world or European championships. Kazan is a real Russian centre of summer sport. The next task is look at the screen and name the new sport complexes.
- Universiade program includes numerous water sports competitions. For this purpose the Aquatic sports Palace was constructed.
- It is the first in Russia Rowing centre for 1.500 seats for the competitions on boat racing and canoeing.
- It is a Football Stadium. It will enable to hold competitions of the highest world level and correspond to FIFA “5 star” International Federation of Football.
- The Central Stadium for track and field competitions.
- The AK Bars Wrestling Palace for competitions on all kinds of wrestling.
- Basket Hall and Tatneft Arena for holding competitions on basketball and volleyball.
- Academy of tennis which includes 4 covered and 14 open tennis courts.
- Centre of gymnastics for rhythmic and artistic gymnastics competitions.
- Centre of Field Hockey. Competitions on beach football and volleyball are planned to be held there.
