Цели урока:

  1. Ознакомление с названиями частей света;
  2. Развитие лексико-грамматических навыков;
  3. Тренировка навыков диалогической речи.

Оборудование: Карта России и Европы, компасы, аудиозапись “Let’s Remember Columbus”

Ход урока

1. Сообщение цели урока.

Teaсher: Look! What is it? You are right. This is a compass. The compass is an instrument that shows directions. Today you will learn how to name the directions in English. You will work with the map of the world. In fact we are going to have a Geography lesson in English!

2. Ознакомление с названиями частей света. (Раздать компасы.)

Т: Look at the blackboard.

Number 1 is the north
Number 2 is the northeast
Number 3 is the east
Number 4 is the southeast
Number 5 is the south
Number 6 is the southwest
Number 7 is the west
Number 8 is the northwest

T: Look at the compass and give a name to all the numbers. (Обратить внимание на артикль the.) Собрать компасы.

T: Look at abbreviations on the blackboard and give a full name to them (ex: SE – the southeast)

3. Тренировка употребления предлогов с названиями частей света.

  1. Таблицa “Look, read and remember.” (p. 95)
  2. Look at the map of Russia and say where these cities are situated (p. 95, ex. 3.+ 4/5 cities on the map.)

4. Тренировка чтения географических названий.

  • Распечатка названий стран с транскрипцией.
  • Выполнение упражнения (p.97, ex.5)

T: Well done. I see you are very good at Geography.

Let’s now speak about the greatest discoverer Christopher Columbus.(Работа по тексту “True, false or don’t know”.)

T: Listen to the poem “Let’s Remember Columbus”

      Let’s Remember Columbus

In fourteen hundred and ninety-two
Columbus sailed the ocean blue…
Let’s sing together this old song
About the voyage that took him long,
About the sailors, those strong brave men.
Let’s sing and remember them all again!

7. Домашнее задание.

  • Выучить стихотворение;
  • p.97, ex.6,7.
