Общеобразовательная: Учиться работать в коллективе, самостоятельно добывать знания, сведения о стране.
Развивающая: Развитие мышления, речи; развитие умения сравнивать, доказывать, ставить и разрешать проблемы, развивать творчество и фантазию.
Воспитательная: Воспитание толерантного отношения к иноязычной культуре.
(Для проведения этого урока нужно разделить класс на 2 группы. В каждой группе необходимо выбрать лидера ( который будет организовывать работу группы, брать и распределять задания), секретаря (который будет записывать ответы при необходимости) ; остальные члены группы активно участвуют во всех видах деятельности.
Ход урока
I. Введение в ситуацию.
Teacher: “Dear friends! I am very glad to see you at our lesson today because we have an unusual lesson- a competition-climbing up the peak of knowlege. Imagine, that we are mountaineers and we are going to climb up the peak of knowlege “Attractive Land- Britain” We should reach the top of the mountain. Let’s devide into two groups of alpinists. While climbing up the mountain, you will show us your knowledge of the United Kingdom. We’ll speak about the sights, the capital of the country, its traditions. We’ll have several stops and do some tasks, devoted to Britain.
Choose the leaders of your groups. You’ll see an envelope with the task at every stop. Do it as quick as possible and go forward. If everything is OK, put the flag of the UK on each pass of the mountain. Who will reach the top first, will be the winner. Our trip will be difficult, but we’ll try to do it interesting, not dull.
II. Warming up activities.
But what is it? We don’t know each other! Let’s meet each other and say something interesting about ourselves.
T.: My name is Nadezhda Alexandrovna. I am fond of knitting. And what about you? (Speaking in a chain) (Формируются группы по интересам; каждая группа получает эмблемы-символы: красную розу и нарцисс)
III. Перевал. (1 Pass)
Attention to the groups of mountaineers! There are two envelopes with the tasks, which are waiting for you on the first pass. Leaders of the groups should take the envelopes.
Your first task is: to work out Word Web on the theme: “Why travel to the UK ?” . (Целью данного этапа является антиципация.)

2. Task. Situation ”Planning a holiday”.
“Imagine that one morning you see in your mailbox a letter with the following text: “Congratulations! You’ve won a wonderful trip to Britain. For further details call 900 00 00.
The task: make up 10 questions about future trip, which you would like to ask over the telephone: “How long will the trip last?”...
(Разыграть ситуацию в парах.)
So, who is ready with the tasks, you may answer to the consultant or to the Pupil on duty and compare your Word-Web with the one on the screen. If everything is OK, you may go forward, to the next Pass, and take the envelope with the next task. Your first victory is marked with the flag.

IV. Перевал. (Pass 2)
On the second pass there are two envelopes with the cards, containing the tasks which help to involve all participants of the groups into active speech activity.
Situation:You can travel from London to Edinburgh by train,by car or by plane. Will you decide: what ways of travelling suit you more. (готовят все участники группы, за группу отчитывается 1).
Situations: 1. Using words and expressions, prove that the most interesting way to travel is by plane.

V. Перевал. (
Активизация имеющихся знаний по страноведению.)1. Отгадать загадки(Guess, what sight it is)
1). It is the place where ravens live. (Tower of London)
2. It is situated to the east of the Tower of London and is made of two parts which can be lifted, for ships passing under it. (Tower Bridge)
3. It is the square where statue of Admiral Nelson stands. (Trafalgar Square.)
4. It is impressive in appearance and size. It is used for the coronations, royal weddings, funerals of great statesmen and national figures of England.(Westminster Abbey).

I’ll visit the Tower. If I visit the Tower, I’ll see ravens...
2.If I go to London, I’ll visit Buckingham Palace. If I visit Buckingham Palace I’ll see the Quееn...

VI. Перевал. (Pass 4)
Read the text about London (texts are the same).
In 2 minutes there will be “ a cross fire”–(“перекрестный огонь” из вопросов по тексту) . The members of the first group ask a question to the second group . The second group answers the question and asks their own one. (Одна команда задает вопрос, другая
- отвечает и наоборот.)
So, we nearly reached the top of the knowlege on the theme. The last Pass is the result of our work.
VII. Перевал. (Pass 5)
I offer you to fulfil the creative task: make up a collective story: “If I have a chance to visit Great Britain, I’ll...” (Каждый член группы говорит по предложению, секретарь записывает, а затем предложения выстраивают по порядку, используя “linking words”(слова для связи):

So, our ascent is going to an еnd. The results of your work you can see on the screen (map of the mountain). You really proved that Britain is an attractive L and. But it is also the Land of songs. Let’s sing a beautiful song “Brighton in the rain”.
