Ход урока
1. Организационный момент, объявление цели урока.
Today at our lesson we should think, read a story and answer the question if it is good to be unusual.
2. Подготовительная часть урока.
Беседа с учениками в режиме фронтальной работы.
From time to time we meet with some unusual things in our life: films, books, buildings, towns, countries, people, and so on. Please, think it over and answer the questions:
Have you personally got any special feature? Maybe, you have got some hobby or special ability or unusual feature of the character…
What is special about our town? In what way is it unusual?
What is special about our country? How does Russia differ from other countries?
And today we shall read about some special traditions of Great Britain and you will know how this country differs from other ones.
3. Основная часть урока.
а) Чтение текста «Great Britain: a Country of Traditions» (упр.16, стр.60-62)
Работа ведется в 4 группах, каждая из которых читает и переводит только одну часть текста (1 группа – spring, 2 группа – summer, 3 группа – autumn, 4 группа - winter). Каждому ученику дана карточка с заданием вставить в предложения недостающую информацию по своей части текста.

WINTER Up-Helly-Aa is a Scottish festival in winter when they make a model of a Viking longship, carry it through the town to the sea and burn it there. Carol singing is singing Christmas songs celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ. |
Затем состав групп меняется так, чтобы в каждой группе было как минимум по 1 ученику из ранее сформированных групп. Задание: поделиться информацией в группе, заполнить карточку целиком.
б) Отработка и закрепление информации
Выполнение упражнения 17 на странице 62
Let’s repeat the names of the traditions in Great Britain and refer them to the seasons of the year. Name a tradition, match it with the season and read the information about it from your card.
в) Контроль полученных знаний
Индивидуально ученики выполняют упражнение 18 на странице 62-63 в тестовой форме письменно.
4. Заключительная часть урока.
Беседа с учениками в режиме фронтальной работы.
What tradition seemed the most unusual for you?
Was it interesting for you to read about special traditions?
Do you agree that Great Britain is a very special country?
Can we say that anything special or unusual is interesting?
So, is it good to be unusual?
You should remember that any person or country is special and that is why they are interesting and worth respect.
Home task: to prepare a story about the traditions of Great Britain using the cards from the lesson.
