В данном материале представлен сценарий мероприятия, который позволит широкому кругу преподавателей, использующих драматизации в процессе обучения, применять его для знакомства учащихся с обычаями и традициями Великобритании.

There are a lot of interesting festivals and celebrations in English speaking countries such as Christmas, New Year, Saint Valentine’s Day, All Fools’ Day, Easter, May Day, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Independence Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving Day. Learning the English language we come to know the culture of English speaking countries and festivals and celebrations as part of it. Some holidays are celebrated in Russia almost in the same way as in Britain or America, for example, Christmas, New Year, St. Valentine’s Day, and Easter. Some are closely connected with the history of a certain country, such as Independence Day or Thanksgiving Day in the United States of America. To my mind, Halloween is one of the most interesting and mysterious festivals. It originates from Britain but nowadays it is mostly observed in the USA and some other countries.
Halloween is celebrated on the night of October 31. People dress up in scary costumes as witches, ghosts, skeletons, black cats, bats, vampires, pumpkins, etc. They play traditional games, such as apple bobbing, that is picking up apples with the mouth from a bowl of water. Another traditional game is “trick-or-treat”. Children dressed in scary costumes knock on the door and ask the hosts for sweets or “something good to eat” threatening to play a trick on them. The symbol of the festival is a pumpkin with a funny or sad face carved in it. Usually there is a lit candle or lamp inside. You can see such pumpkins in this hall.
And now let us imagine that we are among ancient Celts. They are giving thanks to their favourite Sun god and getting ready to meet Samhein, the God of cold and darkness.

Ведущий стоит около импровизированной сцены. На сцене: трон.
Ведущий: - А вот, что происходит в природе. Наступает осень, дуют ветры, идет дождь, дни становятся короче, солнце все реже появляется на небе. Вот, появляется солнце со свитой.
Входит Солнце со свитой (дождь, ветер, туча, облако, осень). Солнце садится на трон, свита окружает его, дождь плачет, проливаясь на землю, осень шуршит листьями, ветер дует и шумит.
Солнце: Hello, everybody. I am the Sun. I am the favourite god of the Celts. I am so sadtoday because my season is over. I am losing my power. The days become shorter, the season of darkness and cold is coming.
Ветер: Look, Your Majesty, there is somebody coming. Autumn, go and see who it is.
Осень: Just a moment, I am so busy, I can’t do it myself. Oh, I’ll send the Cloud.
Where is the Cloud?
Облако: I am here, Your Excellence.
Осень: Go and see who is coming!
Облако: I am sorry, Your Excellence. I must meet a Heavy Cloud. Let me see…
I'll send the Rain. Rain, Rain, where are you? Come here, come here.
Дождь: Oh, I’m coming, I’m here.
Облако: There is somebody coming. Go and see who it is.
Ведущий: Солнце посылает Дождь из своей свиты посмотреть, кто идет. Дождь встречает кельтов, которые несут свои дары Солнцу в благодарность за выращенный урожай.
Дождик убегает. Навстречу ему выходит группа кельтов, возглавляемая коронованной особой. Кельты несут дары Солнцу. Дождь подводит кельтов к трону Солнца.
Король кельтов (к залу): Неllo, everybody. We are the Celts. We are great-grandparents of the British people. We lived long ago where Britain and France are now. We worshiped nature and had many gods. Sun was our favourite god.
1-й кельт: Long live, beneficial Sun! You mark our days and nights. You make the Earth beautiful, you make the crops grow. Look, what rich harvest we have this autumn!
Кельты складывают к подножью трона снопы зерновых, ставят подносы с фруктами и овощами. Свита Солнца принимает дары, любуется ими.
Солнце: Bless you, my dear children. Thank you for your presents.
2-й кельт: Our dearest Sun! Why are you so sad?
Coлнце: Oh, my dear children! It’s autumn now. It often rains in autumn. It is cold and windy. Soon Samhein will come to power and take me prisoner for six long months.
3-й кельт: Dear Sun, will you come back?
Cолнце: In spring I’ll turn Samhein out and bring the brightness to the world.
Ведущий: Солнце прощается с кельтами, благодарит их за дары и предсказывает наступление холодного и темного времени года.
Солнце обещает вернуться весной.
Меркнет свет, появляется Сэмхейн со свитой. Они прогоняют Солнце и кельтов. Сэмхейн в окружении ведьм, вампиров, котов и т.п. под завывание нечисти восседает на трон, а туча, осень и дождь присоединяются к свите.
Ведущий: Вы заметили, что в природе произошли изменения, наступило холодное и темное время года. Это было время наступления нового года. По старинному поверью в ночь с 31 октября на 1 ноября веселились темные силы, – подданные Сэмхейна, по небу проносились облака, напоминающие ведьм на помелах, на бахчах начинали сами передвигаться толстые тыквы, привидения и призраки пугали детей. Считалось, что если в эту ночь переодеться в костюмы ведьм, черных котов, привидений, гоблинов и других чудищ и как следует повеселиться и подурачиться, темные силы оставят тебя в покое на все темное и холодное время года.
Сэмхейн: Hi! I am Samhein , the master of cold, darkness and evil.
It’s my time now. The Sun is in jail. It’s my time now. Come here, witches! Sing your song to me.
1-я ведьма: Hurray! Its our time now. I’ll scare children and grown-ups.
2-я ведьма: We’ll scare kids and give them witches brew. Hey, goblins, fetch the kettle. We’ll make some brew.
Ведьмы пляшут вокруг котла, варят своё зелье и поют песню. После танца “угощают” всю свиту своим варевом.

Dead leaves, seaweed, rotten eggs too;

Spider web, mouldy bread, mucky mud , too;
