Цель урока: развитие коммуникативных способностей учащихся через различные виды речевой деятельности.

Задачи урока:

  • Образовательные:
    • активизация вопросительных предложений в Past Simple.
    • введение новой лексики по теме: собственные имена и географические названия, расширение кругозора учащихся.
    • умение пересказать текст в прошедшем времени от 1 лица.
    • подготовка учащихся к созданию проекта по биографии писателя.
  • Развивающие:
    • развитие навыков устной монологической речи.
    • развитие навыков аудирования.
  • Воспитательные:
    • развитие умения работать в паре и команде.
    • формирование положительной мотивации к изучению английского языка.

УМК: М.З. Биболетова, О.А. Денисенко, Н.Н. Трубанева Английский с удовольствием / Enjoy English: Учебник для 5-6 кл. общеобраз. учрежд., изд-во «Титул». 2011.

Доп. литература: М.А. Гацкевич English. Английский для школьников и абитуриентов: Топики, упражнения, диалоги. Изд-во «КАРО», 2009, фотографии из интернета.

Оборудование: компьютер, магнитофон, фото известных людей, раздаточный материал.

ХОД УРОКА

I. Greetings

Т: High Five. Good morning, dear children. I am glad to see you.
Ps: Good morning, dear teacher. We are glad to see you too.
T: What is the weather like today? Is everybody present today? Who is absent? What did you do yesterday? What will you do tomorrow?

II. Warming-up exercises. The aim of the lesson

T: Look at these pictures. Who are they? Name them. (Charlie Chaplin, Pablo Picasso, Albert Einstein, M. Thatcher, Queen Elizabeth II, Princess Diana, Mark Twain, G. Washington, W. Shakespeare).
Ps: This is Ch. Chaplin. He was a famous actor, etc.
Т: Good. Who can guess what we are going to speak about today.
Ps: About famous people.
T: Well done. Today we are going to know all about M.Twain.

III. Homework. (SB Ex. 48 p. 94 – read and translate, make 6 questions)

1) All Write Round Robin.

Mix, read your questions to your classmates. Find out the questions you don’t have. Write them in your papers. Examples:
– Who is M. Twain?
– What do you know about him?
– Why did literary clubs invite M. Twain to speak?
– Why did a club member ask him to tell a funny story?
– Did M. Twain know a lot of funny stories?
– What jokes did the famous writer tell?
– Could he make the old man laugh?
– What did the club member tell M/Twain after the lecture?
– How long didn’t the old man laugh?

2) Find a person you are going to meet at six o’clock (Clock Buddies).
Students, whose hair is longer, will ask questions, partners will answer. You have 1 min.

IV. Retelling

1) T: Use a plan and retell the text in turn.

M. Twain was a … . He was well known ... . One day the literary club … . Before his lecture a club member … . M. Twain noticed an old man … . He began to tell … . Everybody laughed

2) T: Retell the text as you were M. Twain. Timed Pair Share.
