Цели урока:

  • Закрепление изученного материала по теме "WE LIVE ON THE SAME PLANET".
  • Тренировка лексических и фонетических навыков.
  • Активизация изученных речевых образцов.

Оборудование: мультимедийный проектор, презентация, карточки для парной работы, раздаточный материал, таблицы для защиты проектов.

Ход урока

T: Good afternoon, boys and girls. I'm glad to see you. Sit down, please. Today we have an unusual English lesson: we have got a lot of guests and there is a computer and a screen at the lesson. Don't be afraid and shy. Be active. Let's begin.

The topic of our lesson is: WE LIVE ON THE SAME PLANET

T: Our planet is called CL: the Earth. Right you are. Arslan, come up to the blackboard and give us some information about the Earth.

(монолог) THE EARTH

We live on a beautiful, green planet. It is called the Earth. The Earth is one of 9 planets of the Solar System.

The area is 510 065 600 sq km. There are 6 continents on the Earth: Europe and Asia, North America, South America, Africa, Australia and Antarctica.

The population is more than 6 billiard people. They live in different countries: Russia, China, The USA, The UK, Mexico, Canada, Brazil, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and many, many others. People speak different languages: Russian, English, Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, French, Turkish, Italian and others.

The nature of our planet is beautiful and different. We can see oceans, seas, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, forests and deserts on the Earth. A big number of animals, birds, insects, fish live with us.

Unfortunately, the Man destroys the nature. The Earth is our big home, so we should love, take care and protect.

Your home task was to write short compositions about your future. Now I'll read 3 of them. The task is to guess the name, whose story it is.

I'M IN 10 YEARS

How do I see myself in 10 years? I'm 53 years old. I work at school as an English teacher. I have got a family: a husband, a son and a daughter. My hobbies are gardening and flowers. I travel round the world much. I've already visited Great Britain, the USA, Australia and some countries in Europe and Asia. I'm happy because I've got a friendly and loving family, an interesting job and I can travel a lot.

I'm in 10 years? Well, I am happy, athletic, lucky, creative and very clever. I live in the centre of Birsk in a big cottage. I have got an expensive car. I often go to Ufa because I am a professor of Physics. I work at the university. I enjoy my work very much. I'm very rich because I invent different useful things. In the evenings I watch TV, work on a computer and read books. In summer I go to my big garden. I enjoy working there. I have got two nice cats. I am sure I'll be a happy man.

In 10 years I'll have a family. My husband's name is Roger. He is English. He works for a computer company. He is an athletic, kind, funny, dark- haired man with a sense of humour. I am a good -looking, athletic, friendly and kind woman with blue eyes and fashionable haircut. We live in London, in a semi detached house not far from Big Ben. I'm a student at the university and my English is perfect.

T: And the last question is: "How do you see our planet in 10 years?

  • There are 23 pupils in our class. 10 pupils are optimists. They are looking forward to the future.
  • 5 pupils are afraid of the future. They are pessimists. 8 pupils don't think about the future at all.
  • As for me, I am an optimist. I think in the future there will be progress in different areas, new discoveries in medicine, new electronic technologies, space traveling, space discoveries, development of computers. (таблица) I think our planet will be full of different technologies that will help us to live long and happily without wars.
  • I'm a pessimist. I suppose in 10 years there will be new serious diseases, air pollution, water pollution, stressful life, dangerous technologies, new war technologies. (таблица) Everything is changing so quickly. Just think of Chernobyl! I am sure that next century it could be a really dangerous time.

I'm sure that you can be the winners of the teenagers' competition and you can win the round the world tour .I've made a project too. I hope it'll be a pleasant surprise. I know that some of you are the fans of Michael Jackson. (Слайд 14) He is a fantastic pop singer. Unfortunately, he died in 2009. Michael Jackson loved the Earth, the nature, people, He suffered much and wanted to change people and the Earth to the best. He sang about it in his songs and clips.
