Steps of the lesson:

1) Introductory teacher’s speech. T-CL. (1 min.)

Good morning my dear girls and boys. I’m fine and you? How are you?

I’m very glad to see you. I shall be your teacher at today’s lesson instead of your teacher.

I hope our work will be creative.

Today is the 19-th of March. It is Thursday today.

The theme of our lesson is “How to be healthy”

The Aim: to activate using vocabulary on healthy lifestyle in oral speech.

2) Introducing Harry Potter. T-CL / P1, 2…- T (2 min.)

Well, girls and boys, do you know Harry Potter?

I see, all of you know Harry Potter.

What books have you read or what films have you seen about this boy?

For example:

1. “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone”. - Гарри Поттер и Философский камень

2. “Harry Potter and The Chamber of secrets”. – Гарри Поттер и тайная комната.

3. “Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban” – Гарри Поттер и Узник Азкабана.

4. “Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire”. – Гарри Поттер и Кубок Огня.

Harry is a guest at our today’s lesson. He has come from Great Britain and he would like to help us to find out how to be healthy. He asks “How are you?”

Harry would like us to take part in competition “Healthy kids” and he will give the winner of every game a gold snitch.

We have divided our group into two teams. The first team we have called “Greens”, the second - “Oranges”

Harry has an excellent pronunciation and wants us to practice some sounds. Please, look at the screen.

[e] – healthy, bread, head, ready

4) Revision of the vocabulary. T-CL/ T-P1, 2/ P1, 2-CL  (3 min.)

The first game is “Who knows the words best?”

Look at the screen, raise your hands and name types of food.

1) Name diary/milk group: (milk, yogurt, cheese)

2) Name fruit and vegetables group: (carrot, banana, strawberry, nuts, cabbage, apple)

3) Name sweet group: (chocolate, cake)

4) Name drinks: (juice, milk, Coca-Cola)

5) Name bread/macaronis group: (bread, pizza, hamburger, crisps, macaroni)

6) Name meat group: (meat, chicken, eggs)

5) Game “The best learner of vocabulary” T-CL/ CL-T (3 min.)

Garry will help us to learn new words. Look at the board and repeat after me, please.

1) Introduction new vocabulary.

cereals - [ 'sıərıəІ] – изделия из дроблённого зерна, крупы,

energy - [ 'enədзı] - энергия

Let’s play game “Do/Did” with the help of this sunny ball using new vocabulary.

Garry reminds you that in Present Simple you will answer Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.

in Past Simple – Yes, I did./ No, I didn’t.

Please don’t forget about time words and phrases: in Present you should use: every day, adverbs of frequency – once, twice, and three times.

In Past  - yesterday, some time ago- two days ago, last week.

Children, go to the board, read the sentences louder please and write whether they are true (T) or false (F). Each team after another?

1. All foods are good for you.  
2. Vitamins and minerals help you to keep healthy.  
3. Fruit and vegetables are full of sugar and fat.  
4. Sweets, crisps and cola keep you healthy.  
5. You shouldn’t eat empty food.  
6. You should eat a variety of foods to stay healthy.  

8)  Game “Healthy/ Unhealthy. T-CL/ T-P1, 2 (3 min.)

I shall name the word for the each team separately. If it is healthy clap your hands, if it is unhealthy don’t clap. Harry also will help us.

Healthy: milk, chicken, cereal, carrot, banana, nuts, pasta, cabbage, apple, eggs, chocolate, juice, fish, bread, meat,

Unhealthy: fat, cake, Coca-Cola, pizza, hamburger, crisps, sugar, sweets.

Now, chocolate is in group of healthy food, because it gives energy and improves memory.

9) Listening to the text for gist. T-CL/ P1, 2-T (2 min.)

You will listen to the beginning of TV-show.  Then tell Harry what it is about. (It is about healthy food and unhealthy food.)

10) Relaxation with Harry. T-CL/ CL-T (1 min.)

He wants us to listen to Scottish music.

Harry: Hello. You’re with Healthy Kids again. We are going to the supermarket to interview some people. Excuse me, could you answer our questions, please?

What kind of food do you usually buy at the supermarket?

Woman: Well, I buy fruit and vegetables. They are full of vitamins and minerals.

 Harry: Thanks. Fresh fruit and vegetables help us to stay healthy. Excuse me, what kind of food do you usually buy at the supermarket?

Girl: Every day I buy cereals, nuts, crisps, Coca-cola and chocolate.

Harry: Right, cereals, bread and nuts are good for you. They give you energy. But sweets, crisps and Coca-cola are empty food. Thank you. Excuse me, what kind of food do you usually buy at the supermarket?

Boy: I buy eggs, meat, fish and cheese.

Harry: Thank you. Eggs, meat, fish help us to grow. They make us strong.

Proper working day plays an important part in our lives. Next task is to make up an example of a proper working day with the help of these phrases. I’ll give you these lists and you are to put number of each daily activity. Please work in pairs. Then we shall check together.

For you homework I give you ex, 4, p. 93(b). You are to finish your posters about healthy lifestyle at home. Please use pictures of sports, food, for example cut out from magazines and keep your posters for the project in lesson 8. Also, do ex.1, p. 61 (w-b) in your work-books
